Chapter 18 by whs whs

What is this trigger?

Mr. Brightside

You didn’t recognize it at first, but it was the same melody — "Mr. Brightside." That’s what triggers the switch. But why? Why this song? You always loved it, even set it as your alarm and ringtone. Your sister knew that. She used your favorite melody against you.

The next morning, you wake up with a new resolve. You’re done hiding. You’ll find a way to control the trigger. But as you’re thinking about what to do next, you notice your sister standing in the doorway of your room. She’s smiling, as if she knows exactly what’s on your mind.

"Found something interesting?" she asks.

You stay silent. She steps closer and sits down next to you on the bed. "You know, I like how hard you're trying," she says. "But it’s useless. Even if you find the trigger, you’ll never be able to avoid it completely. And Jane is only getting stronger."

You look at her with hatred. "Why are you doing this?"

Your sister shrugs. "****. Isn’t it obvious? Remember that incident with my panties? I waited a long time for the right moment. And now it’s here."

You feel anger rising inside you. But you realize that now isn’t the time for confrontation. You need more information. More control. Only then can you stop her.

You look straight into your sister’s eyes, trying to stay calm despite the rage boiling inside you. "I know the trigger," you say confidently, though your voice trembles slightly. "It’s the song. 'Mr. Brightside.' You used my favorite melody against me."

Your sister freezes for a moment, her smile becoming tense. She clearly didn’t expect you to figure out her plan so quickly. But then she relaxes and starts giggling, as if she’s heard a funny joke.

"Oh, bravo!" she says, slowly clapping her hands. "You really figured it out. I thought it would take longer. But you know what?" She leans closer, her voice turning cold and threatening. "Even if you know the trigger, it doesn’t change anything. Jane is already too strong. And she’s not going to back down."

You feel your heart racing. "You promised," you say through gritted teeth. "You said that if I found the trigger, you’d remove the hypnosis."

Your sister smirks, as if your words amuse her. "Oh, really? Did I say that?" She theatrically places a hand on her forehead, pretending to think. "Well, you know, people often forget their promises. Especially when they get what they want."

You take a step back, trying to keep your composure. "You can’t just ignore your word. That’s… that’s wrong!"

She gets up from the bed and takes a step toward you. "And who said I have to play by your rules? This is *my* game, dear. And as long as you keep resisting, Jane will do everything to turn you into the perfect girl."

You feel a chill run down your spine. She’s right. Even if you know the trigger, it doesn’t mean you can avoid it. The song is everywhere. She can play it at any moment. And then you’ll lose control again.

Suddenly, your sister pulls out her phone and smirks. "You know what? I think you deserve a little ‘confirmation’ of your theory." She presses a button, and the room fills with familiar chords.

You feel your consciousness start to blur. The world around you becomes hazy, sounds fade away, and your body grows heavy. The last thing you see before slipping into darkness is your sister’s face, full of triumph and malice.

Where did you wake up?
