What's next?
First Night's Dinner with the Polycule
You see a spread before you: a whole sheep lies cooked, an apple in its mouth, steam rising from the roast before you. Around the sheep are various side dishes: fresh bread sits on the table, crust golden. A salad with various greens sits, clearly having been salted properly based on it appearance. Additionally, there's a cheese platter with various cheeses on it. A large dish sits next to the bread, containing rich yellow butter. On the side table sits a chocolate cake, made obvious by the fact that one-fifth of the cake is missing. Violet frowns, "why do people always have to eat some dessert prior to dinner?" The cake is decorated with a smooth chocolate frosting, red frosting pearls decorating the side; strawberries lie in array up top. A decanter filled with a deep red wine starts getting passed around, as people begin filling their wine glasses. Several decanters with water are also spread around the table.
Discussion revolves around several topics, but tends to keep coming back to you: your adventures so far, your goals, your desires. You suppose that's pretty reasonable, considering the entire reason you're a guest in their house right now is that you're potentially joining their polytair. In time, you learn that all six of them were formerly adventurers together. Apparently their adventures started when Irina, Qilen, Violet, and Faexina were hired to escort a caravan traveling from Edheren to Cyllian, where they uncovered a conspiracy against the previous duke. The previous duke unfortunately died in the battle that followed, and his son, Giovanni, accompanied them as they pursued the culprit to Tono, which fortunately granted them entry. It culminated with Aaron helping them track said culprit down, using his conjuration magic to aid the group. After that, the six spent a couple years adventuring together and acquiring loot, eventually purchasing the building where the library is today. Through the long and short of their adventures, you learn that Irina is a paladin, Qilen a bard, Violet a warlock, and Faexina a rogue. Giovanni is a cleric of Athena, and Aaron is a wizard. {if chessFemalePoV = true}Suddenly, towards the end of the meal, as everyone has cake in front of them, Violet says, "Hold up! Aaron, you cheated earlier; your pawns were blocking your priest!" Aaron simply smiles and says, "you just now noticed, Vi? Besides, don't get your panties in a twist, you still won."{endif}
After dinner, {if Female = false}Giovanni{else}Irina{endif} escorts you to a guest bedroom. And oh my celestials, you knew that this would be a solid bedroom due to the fact that this is a mansion, but surface knowledge didn't have you prepared for this. The bed is like one you've never seen before: rather than the typical couch-like structure, you see a much larger structure, with a clear head end. The head end has the typical angled rise of any bed, but rather than an angled rise on the foot end as well, there's a simple guard rail, curved patterns inscribed into the wood: lines which curve in on themselves follow the geometry of the top piece of wood, although given that you're shorter than the distance between the head and the foot, you doubt it'll be an issue. The bed additionally has a number of pillows, of various shapes and sizes, including one which is roughly cylindrical and about as long as an adult elf is tall. Additionally, there's a standard clothes chest, its woodwork nothing special. Along the wall also rests various paraphernalia: a sapphire weapons rack, as well as a white oak cabinet, its wood matching that of the bed. Opening the cabinet reveals places for various pieces of armor: up at the top rests a shelf, undoubtedly for a helm or helmet. Hooks rest against the back in shape of a person: there are clear spots for chest pieces, bracers, greaves, boots. This is well and good for front plate, but what if someone had full plate? You gingerly push one of the hooks, and to your surprise it pushes upwards, and folds up, into the wood. A small indentation at the top would allow you to bring the hook back down. That answers that question, then.
