Working with animals

After the morning routine you follow the mass of girls out to a part of the park, you could see in the distance the boys being led to a different area. Today's lesson would be a little less crowded. You were equal parts relieved and disappointed. The boys inspired an exhausting excitement in you.

A sorceress you didn't recognize was at the front of the gaggle of girls and you watched as she casts the same spell Tritera had to amplify her voice over the chattering hum.

Mrs. Hornsbury : "Good morning ladies, I am Elizabeth Hornsbury and I will be your instructor in beast magic."

She spoke aggressively.

Mrs. Hornsbury : "by the end of your first year here you will be able to safely pacify even the most dangerous wild creatures and communicate simple concepts with pliant animal. After your training many of you will travel from mirror to mirror, spending all of your time within the walls of well fortified cities, far from dangerous beasts."

From her tone you could tell she held people who would prefer this lifestyle in thinly veiled contempt.

Mr. Horns bury : "But for those of you with a more adventurous spirit who want to go where the road hasn't already been carefully paved for you. There is no other form of magic, no fancy lightning bolts or intricate conjurations more essential to exploration than control of the local wild life. Not only are uncontrolled wild predators a direct threat to your safety, but the creatures you'll meet on your journeys know the land better than you possible could and are more alert to dangers than you can possibly be. A friend of birds will never be lost even in a strange land and a friend of rodents will never be ambushed by highwaymen."

She certainly had pride in her specializations utility.
