Making the lightning course through your hand to the illusion proved to be really easy, and also really powerful, as it surged inside of it, sending a powerful and destructive wave of pure lightning inside of it, making it fold in pain, or at least what looked like pain, as it was an illusion, so it shouldn't really feel anything.

The mere instant of the lightning coursing through the illusion made you understand what you did wrong : you focused on the illusion as a being, while the lightning was only aiming at the magic. Like natural lightning aims for a defined point in a storm (something that you've heard of but never really understood completely), the lightning you created was aiming for any magic one could possess, striking it precisely and, from what you've seen, spreading its own energy in the body of the target, resulting in a lot of damage.

So you withdrew your hand, before stepping back a bit, to create some distance between you and the illusion. You wanted to try striking it from a distance again, this time with what you knew. So you extended your hand, before gathering a bit of lightning within the palm of your hand. After a few seconds of focusing on the magic emitted by the illusion, you unleashed the lightning, which was surprisingly powerful, and struck the illusion right to its core, making it disappear, while the deafening noise of thunder could be heard from far away, a noise even distracting Rei and Douma, who stopped training for an instant to stare at you, as you withdrew your hand, both surprised and amazed by the sheer power of lightning.

Silence followed your action, and went on for a little while, before Shirayuki broke it, by slowly applauding.

"You did a great job, Adam, you even managed to understand how Primal Lightning worked far quicker than I thought you would."

At first, you said nothing, limiting your reply to a simple nod, before you eventually said.

"It's strange to be fair. I believed that magic was focusing on the target itself, not on the magic that one contained."

"I know, it is strange indeed, but that is how some kinds of magic works in this world." She answered calmly. "Magic is most often working in ways that is far from our understanding, and that is why magic varies so much in nature. To give you a simple example, while Primal Lightning focuses on damaging through the magic one possesses, Illusion Magic targets the magic particles present in the air around us, and in maybe a day, maybe ten years, maybe in another age, we will discover a new kind of magic relying on something completely unseen before."

This time, you nodded because you just couldn't find any other answer to this. You understood what she meant, and her words did not leave any way for you to just go on with the conversation, so you resorted on a simple nod to answer her.

Shirayuki smiled softly, before using another Master Illusion to create another perfect illusion of her. She then said.

"This time, you will have to use your lightning on your weapon directly, to add enough power to your blow to destroy the illusion. And do not mind its cries of pain, it cannot feel anything normally."

"That's... Completely messed up." You reply.
