Chapter 37 by TheUnfathomable TheUnfathomable

Well, how does your new stat-block seem?

Not bad, not bad at all.

Navigating your now more complicated menu, you at last hover your finger over your character sheet. You pause for a moment, calming yourself and bracing for whatever was to come. You are not yet certain of the specifics of what you have, but you already know it is better than what you had.

With a deep breath and a nod to yourself, you select your character sheet and begin reading.

Feats
Desiccated Durability - You have a 100% resistance to all forms of poisons, a 50% resistance to blood magic, and an immunity to all forms of exhaustion and tiring. However, you also have a 75% vulnerability to holy damage.
Monstrous Appearance – When attempting to use Appearance in a positive way on creatures without the Monster subtype, count it at 20 points lower until the target gets used to you. When attempting to use Appearance in a negative way on creatures without the Monster subtype, count it as 20 points higher until the target gets used to you.
Natural Weapons – You are in possession of a set of Natural Weapons. You are immune to Disarm attacks targeting these weapons. However, crippling effects have a chance to disarm you instead.
Wisdom of the Ages – Gain a constant, passive buff to your intelligence based on the time since your last ****.
Eyes of Horus - Your vision cannot be obstructed by weather and cannot be affected by charms.
CURSE OF THE TWINSOUL-???
Bearer of the Blackflame- Can summon black flames using occult. The power and scale of the flames are affected by the occult skill and energy spent.
Wielder of the Whitefrost- Can summon white ice using occult. The potency and durability of the ice is affected by the occult skill and energy spent.
Cursed Body - When coming into physical contact with a creature you are in combat with, they gain one point of [Tomb_Curse]. For every point of [Tomb_Curse], the creature's highest stat is reduced by one point. This skill will not lower a stat to 0 or below the next highest skill, but will reduce multiple skill if enough points are present to lower all equal skills by the same amount.
Drain Life - Upon landing an attack on a creature, spend mana to deal an additional amount of damage based on your occult skill. You then gain that extra damage as health. The extra damage done by this feat cannot be healed by non-channeled magic or potions.

It brings a tear to your eye to finally see that "explicit" tag on your sheet, even though it had already been quite thoroughly demonstrated to you that it was there. Regardless, that alone had made this evolution quite worth it.

That out of the way, you are somewhat disappointed yet not surprised to find that your stats had not been majorly increased in any way. To your understanding, they seemed to be scaling at the same rate as before.

Then, there was one last area of note, the feats. At first look Desiccated Durability appeared to be worse than your previous Skeletal Tolerance, but then you remember something. While you are slightly more susceptible to blood magic, you now suffered no weaknesses to smashing damage, which you would take as a trade in your favor.

Then came the first of the big ones, the new traits that was actually new. Cursed body was quite interesting, though you aren't sure how it mixed with your fighting style that was admittedly still being made. At the second you are relying somewhat heavily on your two magical skills, but perhaps it would be better to change that now with this skill to go with your new sword.

That combos even better with your new magic ability. Drain life is a breath of fresh air, having a skill that uses your occult that actually feels like your own. You have nothing against your two other spells, aside from the self-harm they caused, but it is nice to have something that doesn't feel as... borrowed feels the right way to say it.

After a long time of thinking, Sahara clears her throat from behind you. "You uh... you know I can't read it, right?" You stare at her blankly for a moment before remembering that she did in fact ask about your new abilities.

You do raise your eyebrow at her for seemingly forgetting your lack of communication skills, quickly demonstrating that fact. "Unless you have learned to speak a dead language in record speed, I don't have a good way of telling you any of it." You see realization flash across her face and give a kind chuckle, not wanting her to actually think you are upset with her.

She gives a nervous laugh and goes to apologize, but you stop her with a friendly wave-away to dismiss the thought. With that, you resort to your best way of communicating with her, drawing in the sand.

Summarizing of course, as you don't want to write out multiple paragraphs, you slowly manage to catch her up on your new form's upgrades. After a short amount of time, she seems as happy with it as you are, with the same thoughts as you for the most part.

You both take some down time to relax, your arm around her shoulder as you sit with your backs against the sand mound that is your next room. As you close your eyes, you take in your new life.

Not much time is given to reminisce, as Sahara leans on to your shoulder and whispers to you. "So... what do we do now?"

What she said, I suppose.
