Chapter 31
by
TheUnfathomable
How long will that moment last?
Not long, you've got work to do.
Your time reminiscing is ended by you noticing that you have multiple notifications backed up. The first few are simply about the new building slots you unlocked, so you set those aside for the moment. The next type of notification is the one that catches you (metaphorical) eye.
Restoration Milestone: Entryway Fully Cleared
Through the completion of your domain, your soul and mind are empowered, and unknown sponsors seek to support you.
Choose Minion: Skeleton (undead, infantry, ranged), Crumbling Constrictor (ancient/construct, beast, melee).
Choose Offering: Armor Set (Uncommon, Light), Construct Core (lvl 10)
Bonus: Entry Chamber will be restored, Door will be emplaced for no cost, 2500 Experience will be awarded, 250 fame will be awarded, First tier of event will activate.
Confirm Selections
Your jaw nearly falls off at the options in front of you. You get a free minion, a choice of some decent sounding items, and a bunch of other rewards, just for cleaning a room of sand? You cannot believe your fortune.
Going down the list, you almost choose the constrictor right off bat as it sounds useful and strong. Then, you look around and realize that you don't really have the space for a larger creature to be most effective. Your room is also linear, meaning a creature that fights against one target by constricting them has no opportunities to ambush or otherwise divide combatants.
With that in mind, you consider the option of another skeleton. There wasn't any harm in having another undead you suppose, and a ranged unit would be useful as your only major attacks have... a lot of splash damage, to say the least.
The deciding factor between the two minion choices is the fact that a construct core is an item in the next choice, meaning you can still get another construct. So, you chose the skeleton, hoping that there is some way to tell the two of you apart.
From there, you realize you already somewhat made your choice for an item. As useful as armor does sound, it just is not what you need at this moment. On the other hand, more manpower is something you just cannot turn down.
With you confirmations made, you press the option to confirm in the menu. Suddenly, a shimmering affect traced its way from the depths of the chamber to the entrance. As it passed by, it repaired the walls and tiles with it. The murals even got a fresh coat of paint by the look of them.
As the flowing light reached the entrance, it traced itself across the air, forming a large solid door within the gap. After the door was formed, an interesting pattern traced into it to make it not appear as flat stone, the room went dark. A few moments later, a series of new sconces that had manifested in the pitch black came to life, bringing a complete yet somewhat eerie light to the chamber.
After that, there is a clattering in front of you upon the ground. You look down to your feet, finding a pile of bones that begins to shake, shifting on the ground and locking itself into place. The skeleton rises, its only form of equipment being a bow and quiver that are seemingly equipped on its back akin to your Khopesh.
You take a moment to examine the unmoving undead. Their bone structure is rather unique, having a sharp appearance to most of it. You are relieved to find their skull distinct enough from yours that you can be told apart, it having a much shorter face then your own muzzle. Other than that, it stands on two digitigrade legs. All in all, it reminds you of the entity in the evil-looking temple on the murals.
Before you get too lost in your new minion, you notice that your notification number has not decreased. This means that you have gained a new one after going through that. You are somewhat confused as to what it could be as you check your most recent notification.
Evolution Available
Sufficient fame has been acquired to evolve.
The level Requirement has been met
Do you wish to evolve?
You froze. You had not expected this opportunity to come so soon. You hesitate before you decide. What if you don't like what you become? You had always been a skeleton, what if what comes after is overwhelming? What if it just turned out to be a disappointment.
You shake your head to dismiss those thoughts. This is everything you may have wanted, and if it wasn't, it was still guaranteed to be a step up. Even if you just turned into "skeleton but fancier", you would at least be stronger and, of course, fancier. You confirm your evolution, being met by a message.
