Hans positioned her, and once both he and Sarzi were satisfied, the painter took his sketchpad and began making the first trial sketches. Marie tried to calm herself, thinking it was just a drawing, but then she noticed her protector's gaze fixed on her feet. She blushed deeply, trying to appear nonchalant, but she didn't know what to do. She started wiggling her toes, which had the opposite effect: now both men were staring at her toes. She immediately stopped and tried to remain as still as possible.

Finally, the first session ended, and she could cover herself again. As she dressed and tried to shake off the embarrassment, the prince complimented her on her beautiful feet. The pirate feigned indifference, but in her heart, she was happy to receive such a kind compliment. She quickly got back to her senses, though.

Days passed steadily, and finally, amid one embarrassment after another, Marie found a certain stability. At first, she was embarrassed to pose, but now she could stay in position barefoot on the bed. However, the moment came when the preparatory sketches were complete. Before entering the guest room alone with the Prince and Kellerman, Di Luigi, always professional, told her she needed to be ready for the base sketch. She knew exactly what that meant: the worst part, when she would have to remain with her shirt open and only wearing short men's trousers. She felt slightly dizzy.

She entered the room and noticed at least a screen had been set up, with the shirt and shorts she was to wear hanging over it. Upon entering, the painter greeted her with a nod while finishing setting up the easel and canvas. The prince was seated not far from Hans's workspace.

Marie headed towards the screen and began removing her clothes, one by one, placing them on the chair set behind the curtain. When all her clothes were off, she started dressing in the few garments provided for her. She let the shirt slide over her bare shoulders, leaving it open just enough to reveal a hint of cleavage, and put on the shorts. Thus "dressed," she stepped out from behind the screen, first placing her bare right foot on the floor, then the left. Blushing and more embarrassed than ever, she walked as if her body wasn't her own towards the bed, concentrating on keeping the shirt open just enough and no more. When she finally positioned herself on the bed, she noticed that the prince had placed a pillow over his lap. Was he really having that reaction to her, a man so detached?

The painter, ecstatic and without a hint of lust in his gaze—otherwise, he would have received a punch in the nose—guided Marie into the pose, touching only her shoulders and wrists, with the model's and the noble's permission. By now, Marie understood the pose she needed to assume, so there wasn't much to correct. Prince Sarzi continued to cover himself with the pillow between his legs, and as the painter began the base sketch, Marie had never felt so embarrassed. She had never been so exposed. Her feet, ankles, and stomach were bare up to her chest. If someone had told her a few months ago that she would pose half-naked, she would never have believed it!
