A month later

The initial panic has subsided, but the world is still in turmoil over what to do about the sudden change. Religious and political groups coalesce around different views of how to respond, some fringe and some frighteningly popular. With some claiming that the changed aren’t human and shouldn’t be treated as such, and others believing they are demons or undergoing some kind of divine punishment, the legal status of the changed is very much in question.

Being a natural minority, most non-humans fates are in the hands of humanity, with only a few possessing enough power or ability to ignore whatever consensus humanity reaches.
