Chapter 8
by Zebra
It's time to start the journey to home...
Home!
You and your friend Ben quickly move away in an easterly direction, towards the aerie sitting high on its platau.
You will have to move through the forested foothills to reach your home, spreading your wings both you and Ben fly into the air. It feels good to be in the air again, even better to be soaring towards home…
As you and Ben continue flying eastward toward your home nestled within the Skyblooded Tribe's territory, thoughts race through your mind about how best to approach the situation with Fred's Hangar. You know that speed is crucial; every moment counts as the attacks from Babilian raiders become more frequent and deadly. The strange delegation of ambassadors mentioned by the outpost guards adds another layer of complexity to the problem at hand - what kind of power do they wield? And why are they pushing for submission to their fortress instead of offering aid like true allies would?
Your heart swells with determination as you vow not only to bring windrider warriors to defend Fred's Hangar but also to uncover the truth behind these mysterious visitors. As you glide closer to your destination, you can feel the familiar gusts of wind beneath your wings, reminding you of where you belong and who you must rally to help those in need. With renewed resolve, you prepare yourself for the challenges ahead, knowing that time is running short and lives hang in the balance.
The great desert stretches out before you, as you ride the hot wind currents high into the sky. Winging along for hours thousands of feet into the air, the journey is a long and tiring one yet its seems to pass quickly.
The journey through the rugged terrain of forested foothills and mountain passes would take a long time for wingless creatures. And the dangers of such a long journey would be very serious…
Fortunately for you, your ability to fly makes this journey easier. You and your friend spend most of each day of the journey flying, despite the fatigue. Your wings constantly feel the powerful gusts of wind that rush towards the high mountains. You and Ben take short breaks for sleep and food in places that are difficult for wingless creatures to reach. You rest on the tops of the nearest mountains. Then - on the road again…
In total, your journey takes only four days.
That's very fast.
Probably, someone else would spend more than a week to reach the goal.
Your wings and your experience in reconnaissance of the area helped you.
At last the aerie comes into view, the great plateau rising up out of the barren desert. Diving down they land on the edge like always, even as the Wind riders on guard all come running to greet them. "Captain Dar… Ben! Hey… Hey everyone Captain Dar and Ben have returned!" As soon as you touch down on the edge of the aerie with Ben, your heart swells with pride upon seeing familiar faces rushing towards you from every direction. It's been too long since you were here among your own people - the Skyblooded Tribe who share not only blood ties but also an unbreakable bond through their love for flight. The excitement in the villagers' voices fills you both with energy despite the exhaustion from your lengthy journey across the vast desert. Soon the whole village has came out to greet them, cheering and asking thousands of question that Dar and Benn struggle to answer. Until at last the chief Satlon and Ashandra, call for silence as they take Dar into the council chamber to hear his report on what had happened…
Inside the council chamber, Chief Satlon and Ashandra await you with serious expressions etched onto their faces. You know this is where the real work begins; it's time to lay everything out and seek help for Fred's Hangar. As you recount the events unfolding there – the attacks by small armed groups, the potential full-scale aggression, and the mysterious delegation pushing for submission – you can see concern growing in the eyes of those around the table.
Chief Satlon speaks up first, "We understand the gravity of the situation Captain Dar. We will send our windrider warriors to aid Fred's Hangar immediately." A wave of relief washes over you at his words. But then he continues, "However, we must tread carefully when dealing with these ambassadors. Their demands may be more than just a ploy for control." Wise words that remind you of the complexity of the problem at hand. Together, you all begin strategizing ways to protect not only Fred's Hangar but also ensure peace within the Skyblooded Tribe while navigating through uncharted territories filled with danger and deceit.
“Help for allies” is more than just words. Organizing such assistance will be difficult...
