Chapter 11
by TheUnfathomable
Well, that's a rude question. How should you respond?
You don't, you get distracted.
You roll your jaw back and forth, trying to think of a good answer to that question. You guess that she doesn't mean if you're an undead or a Lizardmen, those are obvious. You also guess that she isn't talking about being an adventurer, monster, or NPC, because as far as you knew there were no undead NPCs.
As you are about to figure out a way to request clarification, you hear a notification noise behind you. Swinging around to quickly see what it is, you notice that the Scarab has managed to fully clear the ground between the first two black Lizardfolk mural segments.
On the ground right at the border between the two, was a small glowing circle. You notice that the notification seems to be floating right above the circle as well. Intrigued by this sudden development, you carefully approach in order to read the message.
Feature Slot Unlocked
Room has been restored sufficiently for a feature
Please access the build menu and construct a feature for this location.
Huh. It was strange, you don't remember if the System had been that straight forward with you before. It was somewhat unnerving to have it make a request of you instead of just saying that something could be done or straight up telling you to do it.
With a careful press, you open the build menu to see the options you can choose between.
Feature List: (Small, Hall)
Living Statue Trap: Lacking Construct Core (level 10)
Fountain Statue: Possible
Puzzle: Lacking Puzzle Mechanism
Sandstone Chest: Possible
Sandstone Sarcophagus: Possible
...
Below that, all of them say that they had level requirements or required more restoration to unlock. Still, these were good options, and it would not be an easy choice. You have no idea the limitations of your storage space, or if there is one for your sand, and the chest would just be for other items. On the other hand, you wouldn't mind a sarcophagus, as it would look nice and give a place you could rest if you had time.
However, the decision is made very clear to you as you look around the chamber again to see what would fit the theme more. As you glance around, you just happen to see Sahara trying to drink from a waterskin, managing to get a few drops.
You let out an internal sigh as you look back to the options. How you wish you were as emotionally heartless as you were physically, so you could have chosen something that you could actually use yourself instead of a choice to help someone you just met.
With great annoyance, you select the Fountain Statue. A pile of materials manifested on top of the glowing circle, and another message appeared.
Building materials detected. Building: Fountain Statue. Build?
Selecting the confirm option, a strange ghostly image appears in front of you. It outlines a sandstone statue that resembles a Lizardwoman holding a rather large basin. You reach out to it tentatively, wondering what exactly you are supposed to do. As your fingers touch the ghostly image, a strange tingling sensation fills them, and a new message appears.

With this message came a floating bar over the phantom statue. It filled up ever so slightly, enough that this would take at least an hour of constant work in order to complete. A sense of dread overcomes you as another task is placed on top of your pile.
As you prepare yourself for another long hall, a new message appears before you.
Non-applicable skill, -80%. No Tools, -50%. Dexterity Bonus, +60%. Total build speed: 16%
You stare at it in confusion for a moment before you look beside you. To your slight surprise, you see Sahara standing there, her own arm outstretched to touch the ghostly statue. Her gaze shifts to you for a moment before moving back away after meeting your gaze.
Before you can do anything in response, the message appears again.
Non-applicable skill, -80%. No Tools, -50%. Dexterity Penalty, -90%. Total build speed: 1%
It takes you a few moments to look around and find your Scarab at the base of the statue, poking at it with its frontmost limbs. You reach down and give it a good reassuring pat as thanks for its effort, though you doubt it will be able to add much to the overall goal.
That said, you are at least reinvigorated by the assistance of those around you, as you continue to work on the statue. It takes you a decent amount of less time, just around 45 minutes thanks to their help. Sahara definitely did contribute more than the Scarab, but seeing your one and only minion putting its all into helping had made you work faster, so it may have been a tie.
Once you were done, the materials vanished and the statue suddenly became solid, made of a slightly different stone than the rest of the room. It still meshed well, not seeming out of place and still following the color scheme. In addition, its design complimented the rest of the room perfectly, making you feel confident in your choice.
You get startled as a small stream of water suddenly begins pouring out of the Lizardwoman's breasts, collecting within the basin. You stare dumbfounded at the statue design, having not predicted this to be the outcome of the fountain part in the slightest.
You begin to turn to Sahara, thinking of trying to explain that you had not intended this design or something of the like to get you out of trouble. However, you quickly stop as you are shown just how little she cares as she latches her mouth onto one of the sandstone lizard's tits, drinking like her life depended on it (which it honestly might have, out here in the desert.)
Dumbfounded, you stare blankly at her in the admittingly hot scene in front of you. It was at the few and far between times like these that you wished for an actual dick. Most times you didn't care for your lack of the "Explicit" tag, but others it felt like some punishment from the gods.
Right now, you were cursing whatever soul had reincarnated into you to be damned this way.
Hopefully that gets delt with soon.
