Pass the Time

Rest of the day passed by without a a problem as the two took it easy. Well, Cole took it easy, by order of Dr. Raven. She didn't want him pushing himself much till tomorrow, which would be the start of a new work week anyway. Better to get some rest before opening the store back up. This didn't stop herself from taking time to do a little combat practice in their hidden room.

Cole was banned from participating but he was allowed to watch. Seeing her in tight workout gear was..., pretty nice all things considering. But he was feeling kinda antsy. He didn't do well just sitting around when he could be moving, so she allowed him to help with her practice. But only with using his powers a bit. All he did was use his Shadow to manifest a few targets for her to hit.

It was still a weird sensation when she hit them and even weird when she demolished them with her own powers. It was... really hard to describe how it felt with his shadow getting hit by her feet and legs but it was next to impossible to describe it when she used her black magic to empower her hits. He didn't even want to think how it felt if she did the whole 'buzz saw' trick to his shadow.

“Feed back getting to you?” she stopped after a hard hit seemed to leave him in a daze.

"A little?” He shook his hand and blinked a few times, "Think I kinda settled in on how to describe it; feels like someone's hitting say my hand or leg. But that part of the body is asleep. Is that how it feels when someone hits your energy?"

"Sometimes. Depends how I manifest it." She walked over to him and grabbed his arm, using her hands to massage his muscles, "In your case though consider it is your actual shadow, it’s always connected to you. Even by a small then line."

"Sort of like how in some comics or cartoons, GL's ring is always connected to whatever he just constructed. Is it ever gonna feel.. normal?"

"Unsure. Your power set is rather..., unique so I don't have much of a frame of reference. All of this is conjecture. However not sure you’d want it to; you could get complacent with it otherwise. At least this way you can tell you're hitting something or you might be in danger."

She had a point there, it was at least useful to have the feeling than not have it. So long as it didn't throw him off in battle or someone figured out a way to overwhelm his senses or something through his Shadow.

"Still my touch is better than me just hitting it right?"

A weird feeling went up his spine as Raven started to stroke the shadow near her, almost like head of a beloved pet. It did feel better but again it wasn't like he could really word it right..., almost like someone was scratching part of his back he couldn't really get. He wasn’t sure if it was because what she was doing or that he was getting used to it.

"That does feel a lot better…" he rolled his shoulders a bit which earned one of those small smiles.

"Hmm I wonder if it’s reacting to intent; providing different feed back based on different pressures or if it senses what the person is intending to do."

He toyed with that idea a bit as his Shadow wiggled around her a bit like an exicted animal. More weird chills ran up his spine as it ended up brushing agianst her hips and thighs for just a moment. A flash… rather less ideas flashed in his head. As he opened his mouth to say something.

"Do not ask that question. As I believe you said no to Pegging."

He shuddered at the thought of Raven with a magic powered strap on. He had said that was a no go for him when they were talking about kinks in the bed room, and she had respected it. So Magic play was most certainly a no go if she was bring that up as a 'counter offer' to the thought he was about to suggest.

"Nope nope, I’m good. No magic powers in bed." he crossed his arms in an X pattern which earned a giggle from Raven.

"Well. I wouldn’t say that. I might used mine to hold you down, and levitation is fun. But…, if you want to play that stupid game; you will get a stupid prize."

"….. so how'd you figure out about Zero G sex…" he asked.

"Only!" she held up a finger to hush him as she continued, "If you spill the beans on fun things you’ve done with Penny."

Touché.

"Okay so just to be clear;" He brought his arms up and a surrendering manner, "Before we get too far on this, we’re not gonna bring up others performances in bed. I don’t wanna hear about BB or Changeling or Aqualad, or any Robin, or anything about like Star or Jinx okay?"

"Then I’ll refrain about your own conquests in bed." she picked up a towel and started to dry off the sweet she had built up.

"Less conquests and more drunken flings." he rubbed the back of his head, "But you get the point I’m making. No comparisons."

"I can agree to that. Never liked that kind of talk myself." she walked towards the door making Cole keep up with her.

"Then why…" she brought a hand up to stop him and turned her head to look over her shoulder.

"It is excellent bargaining and teasing material." She said with a wink.

"Remind me not to get on your actual bad side." he said as they left the room.

"If you ever see my skin turning red, then you'll know my actual bad side."

"Got it."

It was getting a bit late in the day now, so their thoughts turned towards dinner. Raven offered to cook..., well more like bullied him out of the kitchen while she worked. Eventually she came out with a couple trays of food; a bowl of Loaded Potato Soup, with just a simple sandwich as a side. The pair ate this as they watched a movie Cole had in his collection; some sort of romantic comedy about a robot falling in love.

"This is what you decided to put on..., are you telling me something." she gave a smile as she ate.

"You're the one that made us roll dice this time..., how many weird games do you have for picking out movies."

"Several. And we switched often to keep people from settling into a trick or tactic. Movie night was always rough, with Pizza being maybe just as bad." she shifted her body to settle into the couch some more, "There wasn't anything on TV anyway huh?"

"Couple odd reality shows, a few movies that just felt... off, and a couple documentaries that talked about stuff that I don't know and really didn't care about." he shrugged before taking a big bite of his sandwich and continued, "Watched a bit of news though. Pretty big water main got hit in an accident. Gonna take awhile to clean that up. Kinda weird though; you'd think it'd be easy to fix. Just get a couple mages to fix it."

"Depends on how it's set up and more importantly; the regulations and red tape involved with it. For example if there's a bigger need for mages elsewhere."

"Yeah yeah. Mages seem to be just another resource here so it's not like a random guy can go fix a leak or something. Gotta get the higher ups to sign on for it. ...Geeze I never thought a world of magic could be..."

"Controlled?"

"Something like that yeah."

"It's what happens when your government regulates a power set I suppose." he sighed.

For all the worlds they could have been pitched to, why did they put them here? A sort of 'half and half' world between his normal hum drum world and her super powered one? That made the most sense but it felt weird that this was where cupid sent them. Surely there was a more..., fun? world they could have been put into.

"That ever happen in your world? I've seen it tried in stories but..." he started to ask.

"No. There's been a few attempts but they usually wither on the vine or are... secret organization in the government type deals." she put her empty bowl on the tray which was resting on the small table in front of them, and settled back onto the couch again, "But that's enough about that..., let's just enjoy the movie. I want to see how this ends."

"You haven't seen this one?"

"This? No but I've seen a similar story only with aliens instead of robots. ... only it was way cheesier than this."

The movie had played by as the two just took it in along with each other's company. Nothing serious, just a little physical touch as Raven had eventually started to lean her shoulder on his. It still felt a bit weird to him; suddenly going out with a woman he'd only known(personally) for a few days but..., love does work in weird ways.

What was a little weird was... the bed. A night of passion was one thing but this?

"So..., is that barrier gonna go up again?" He asked as he buttoned his sleepwear top.

"...No. I think we're past that." Raven said as she sat on her side of the bed, already clad in her tighter than should be PJ, "However I do want to remind you..."

"That sex isn't the only thing you want from this relationship; I understand and can respect that. Besides after last night and in the office, I might be tapped out. Okay the flesh might be willing but kinda want a night of sleep here."

"I'll warn you, I am a reader. If that bothers you I can throw up the barrier so you can sleep."

"No I.. think I'll be fine. I'm just really... not tired but burnt out might be a good way of putting it." he fell on the bed with a 'thump'.

"You DID have a busy night last night." she stretched out and selected a book from her collection to flip through, "And yes while I did too, I wasn't... wound up like you were, and you did a lot of the work. Not to mention your body is still adjusting where as I have experience with a few... changes."

"Your demon form I'm assuming." he moved to sit up a bit so he could face her.

"Something like that." A small blush came to her face as she remember Mumbo turning her and the team into animals..., well BB turned into a lamp at that time.

He went to ask another question but she put a hand on his head and lightly pushed him down. The soft bed and sheets were really starting to do a number on him.

"Hush, get some sleep. I wasn't kidding that you had a rough night. Still aren't sure what happened to you but... you aren't going to... say explode as I understand it. But you should take it easy."

He did so, just laying back and listening to Raven turn a page every once in awhile. He closed his eyes and focused on her breathing and heartbeat as he slowly drifted off to sleep. Though one last thing caught his attention as his mind started to rest.

He wasn't sure... but he thought he heard Raven was humming.
