Brenda's Best Boardgame (Complete)

Brenda was going on vacation with some friends in a few days and had decided to go shopping for supplies. They'd rented a cottage on a lake way out in the middle of nowhere and would be staying for two weeks of fun and sun.

She'd already bought the basics, road trip snacks, a ton of beer, and a killer new bikini, but now she was looking for something, well, different.

Her friends all shared her particular interest, weird board games. They played tons of mainstream games too of course, but whenever they found some obscure game they had to play it. Of course a lot of those games were obscure because they were trash, but that was half the fun. A few bottles of beer, some nachos, and good friends and even trash games could become legendary.

She likes to try thrift stores as a good source of new games and had been heading towards one when she saw a new store, Celestial Delights. She'd never heard of it and swore it hadn't been there yesterday. Curiosity got the best of her and she decided to take a quick peek.

It almost seemed like a thrift store. Random objects were everywhere. Some with price tags, some without. There didn't seem to be any kind of theme to it. She picked a snow globe off the shelf and stared at it.

"Hello," a voice said in her ear. She shrieked and nearly dropped the globe as she turned to see who had spoken, "Sorry to frighten you. Better not drop that...very bad luck..."

Brenda nodded and slowly set it back down, "Uh, hi."

"Hi!" The woman said cheerfully, "I'm Didi, can I help you find anything?"

"Do you have any boardgames? Like, really strange ones?" Brenda asked.

Didi lit up, "Do I ever! Follow me." Didi turned and walked away. Brenda practically had to jog to keep up. Eventually Didi stopped and picked something off a shelf, "Here. Transformation! It'll change your life."

Brenda examined the box. It looked old. Like really old. The picture on the front was faded but was really retro. It showed just a bunch of symbols she didn't recognize. Despite it's age it was sealed, like it had never been opened. In other words, it was perfect.

"Cool. How much, I don't see a price tag?" Brenda asked.

Didi took the box back and looked it over, "Huh, that's strange. Well, why don't you make me an offer?"

Brenda would be willing to pay top dollar for this weird game she'd never heard of before, but she didn't want to give that away. She decided to lowball, "$5?"

Didi giggled, "Wow really? Sure. Sold." Her enthusiasm seemed genuine, which confused Brenda, but she didn't really care that much. She followed Didi to the cash and handed over a $5 bill and took her receipt, "Have fun with that dear!" Didi called after her.

What a weirdo, Brenda thought. She took the game back home and packed it. She'd keep it a secret until they were ready to play and then she'd surprise her friends with her big find.
