Chapter 8 by Storm Chyld
Does Keira reveal her secret?
Yes, Confess.
Keira plopped into the chair across from his desk and sighed, “Okay, but I've had my power since I was eight.” She said, confused.
Alaric's eyes got huge, and even Hope seemed surprised. “You're a Legacy?” He asked, as if she would know what that meant.
“A what now?” She replied.
“Okay, we need to go back a little.” He stammered. “We don't know why the Rain Fall changed people, or where it came from. It could have been extraterrestrial, but it could have been extradimensional. Keira, long before the rain came, magic existed in this world. Some, like me, are Gifted, given powers, after intense study. I'm a conjurer.” He explained, holding a hand up and summoning a silver knife. “I can summon small knife-like objects, thus Dagger.” Keira frowned having difficulty following him. “Some, have powers that are passed down from their parents, like Hope. They're called Legacies.”
“So, the parents that gave me up, had powers?” Keira asked.
“If what you say is true, yes.” He nodded.
“I always thought they got rid of me, because of it.” She looked down and watched the cold energy surrounding her hand. Hope knelt next to her, and slipped her hand into hers, clenching it gently. Keira stared into those gorgeous green eyes again, and though neither had words, the warmth in her eyes was a comfort.
Alaric smiled. “I want you to train with Hope.”
“What!” They said simultaneously, letting go.
“You've already fought, and you can counter one another. Hope says she thinks you have hidden your powers out of fear, and that you need practice.” He explained.
Keira glared at Hope, letting go of her hand, but she realized the redhead wasn't wrong. “Fine.” She sighed.
“Okay.” Hope shrugged, standing up. “Come on, I'll show you where I practice.” Keira nodded and followed the busty redhead out of the office, and out onto the grounds. Heading into the large forest behind the manor, they continued till they got near a large lake. “There are wards to make it safer to use our powers unchecked here.” She explained.
“Well let's get started apple polisher.” Keira hissed, summoning her powers.
“The fuck is your problem?” Hope asked irritated, summoning her flames.
“You shot fire at my friend?” Keira smirked.
“I explained that already.” She growled back.
“Then maybe I just want to take you down a peg.” Keira shrugged.
“Fine, gloves are off bitch!” Hope growled throwing her flames forward.
Keira fired her ice blast and the two waves of energy met in the middle, the impact was way more powerful than the first time, and she realized, Hellfire hadn't thrown a beam of fire at her, she had thrown a wall of fire at her. The energy flowed outward from the impact, but fought for supremacy, in an unrelenting battle.
Keira threw her hands wide, summoning a wall of ice, then threw her hands down and under, sending a blast of ice shards from the bottom of the wall, toward her enemy. Suddenly Hellfire crashed through the wall shrouded in flames. She didn't have time to react as the flaming redhead slammed into her knocking them both to the ground.
How does Keira react?
