Chapter One: Winter.

Keira stared into the mirror at her lovely form. She had just taken a shower in the girl’s locker room of her high school. Her wet pink hair framed her beautiful face, and gorgeous green eyes. She had just finished reapplying her makeup, and was checking for touch ups, as she admired her athletic frame. Slipping a black thong up her long sexy legs, her fingers traced the tattoo of a large bird made of ice. The tattoo dominated her left hip to her knee, as well as some of her pert round ass cheek. The tip of its wings faced downward just above her knee, while its upper arch lifted above its graceful head, and touched her hip. A myriad of reflective blue hues made the crystalline bird especially captivating to her.

Shaking the reverie away, she slipped a black pleated skirt over her hips, hiding the stunning piece of artwork from view. Grabbing a matching black bra, she pulled it over her huge firm breasts, and clasped it in the front. Next came a black and red 'All That Remains' halter top. The halter top left her sexy midriff exposed, and her cute little navel for all to see. She had wanted to get a piercing, but her catholic foster parents wouldn't approve. Then again, they didn't approve of the tattoos either.

Tracing her fingers up her left forearm, she smiled at the floral sleeve of art, filled with bright variegated flowers, and a lush green backdrop. At the top was a large waterfall that cascaded from a hidden source above her shoulder, spilling down through the verdant swath of flesh. With a sigh she pulled on a large set of black leather boots and finished her ensemble with a matching leather jacket. She frowned at the mirror thinking of where she was headed. With yet another sigh, she walked out into the hall of her high school.

Her brother Raphael was leaning against a wall waiting for her. He was her exact opposite in almost every way. Tall, clean shaven, hair cut close to the scalp. His jeans were simple, and his white T-shirt was plain, everything about him seemed to scream toe the line. Yet his dark complected skin, his perfect green eyes, and that soft confident smile, drew the ladies like flies to a trap. She stared into those green eyes, and remembered all the times they would joke about how they had the same parents, even though they weren't blood related.

Even so, they were brother and sister, in the only way that mattered. They had been bounced around the foster system their whole lives when they met during their teens. They just clicked and became instantly inseparable. Wherever one went the other followed, and both had been kicked out of many foster homes, though that was mostly her fault, not his. This time was different though, this time it was him in trouble.

“Hey sis, ready?” He smiled.

“Yeah, no, but let's go anyway.” She smiled back.

“You have nothing to worry about,” he said, heading for the door.

“Oh yeah, no it's fine. Our catholic foster parents are dragging us to a church so you can confess your sins.” She grumbled.

“I threw a lawnmower through a patio window.” He chuckled softly. “If this is how we smooth things over, so be it.”

“You're not catholic.” She chided.

“No, but they are, and this is a more than reasonable punishment,” He pointed out.

“It can't be that simple.” She argued.

“They're good people, they said, we have till we finish high school, before we have to leave. They're not going to kick us out.” Raph tried to reassure her.

“We're not minors anymore, they don't have to keep us.” Keira sighed.

“Stop worrying.” Raph said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, as they made their way down the dark street to the nearby church.

A few minutes later they found themselves climbing the steps of an old catholic church. Heading inside through the double doors, and down the pews, they found their parents standing next to a priest. The priest was what you would expect, dressed in his black cassock, with the little white band resting at his throat. Their parents were dressed in semi casual outfits, slacks and a blouse for the man, and a simple dress for the woman. They screamed middle class, and pious. Or maybe Keira just didn't like them.

Raph walked over to their parents and bowed his head slightly. “Mr. and Mrs. Santana.” Raph differed softly to them.

“Thank you for coming Raph, this is Father Cruz.” Their father said.

“Pleasure to meet you, Father Cruz.” Raph said shaking his hand.

“And you, my boy.” He smiled back.

Their mother walked over to Keira. “You can wait outside dear.”

“I'm good.” Keira shrugged.

“It's okay Keira.” Raph smiled. “Go ahead.”
