Elan kept following the sound of water

Elan didn't feel thrilled about the possibility of getting lost, but his "stroll" so far hadn't satisfied him. Additionally, having a way out of the castle just in case wasn't a bad idea. So, relying mostly on his sense of hearing, he started navigating the complex corridors in search of the source of the sound of running water, all while trying to keep a mental map of the area.

About half an hour later, he found what he was looking for. Before him was a wide waterway with a fierce current of water. Now, Elan wasn't an expert in either geology or architecture, but he seriously doubted this stream was natural, not unless the castle was built under waterfall or something similar, which he doubted. So the source of all this water was likely a magical device or simply mechanical. Either way, Elan was intrigued and decided to investigate it once he found where the stream was leading, as finding a potential exit took priority. He started following the flow of the water and before long he noticed the corridor was getting brighter. Realising there might really be an exit just ahead, he quickened his pace. This, unfortunately, caused him to slip.

Elan saw the world spin before hitting his head to the ground and he heard a terrible cracking sound. Strangely, he didn't feel any pain as everything began to rapidly fade into black. The last thing he could make up was the sound of something hitting the water.
