Free drink? Hell yeah!

Chun Xi smiled at the cute clerk, “Thank you so much. My throat is dry and my mind unfocused, this ale should help.”. The girl watched as Chun took a few large gulps from the mug and then excused herself with a little bow.

Silence fell over the place again. The other four adventurers were sipping on their own mugs, the clerk was writing something behind the counter. Ten minutes passed and Chun had already finished the ale, no sight of the Guildmaster. She felt tired, ‘Must be from the long journey.’, she thought. The clerk gave her worried looks every now and then and looked at the empty staircase. ‘Poor girl must be embarrassed that the Guildmaster is making me wait. Not her fault though…’, Chun mused.

Suddenly the four adventurers started acting strange. They got up off their seats and their bodies were twitching. Their legs started growing, bursting open their pants before fusing together while scales appeared all over the new snake-like appendage.

Chun Xi jumped up and unsheathed Raindrop, “Get down and warn the Guildmaster!”, she yelled at the shocked clerk, then she jumped into action. The first creature was too slow for her, and she cut its arm off before it could draw a weapon. It fell to the floor screaming in pain and writhing, “What are you doing?”, it yelled. “Killing you monsters, of course. Your tyranny ends with my arrival!”, Chun Xi responded and rushed the next Naga. It was a short, bloody fight and within less than a minute all four monsters were bleeding on the ground, one of them clearly dead with its head cut off.

“Please stop, by the grace of the gods!”, she felt the small arms of the clerk wrap around her waist and holding her, “What has gotten into you?”. Chun Xi was confused, “I am killing monsters, what do you mean?”. The door burst open, and half a dozen guards rushed in, an officer raised a blade towards Chun Xi, “Lower your weapon! You are under arrest for **** and ****!”. Chun Xi almost laughed at the absurdity, “No wonder you can’t get this problem under control. They were monsters, you morons!”, she pointed at the bodies and froze. They were normal humans. No snaked bodies, no torn pants, weapons only partially drawn.

“What? I don’t understand! I swear they were Naga ten seconds ago!”, she tried to explain but doubts seeped in. Had she been too eager? Was the ale too much and she imagined things? Did she really just attack four innocent adventurers, killing one of them?

The guards quickly surrounded her, weapons aimed at her throat, “Drop the sword and put your hands behind your back. Don’t make this hard on us.”, the officer growled. In shock at what she had done, Chun Xi sheathed her weapon and complied with the man’s orders. She was cuffed and led away, still completely confused at what had just happened, while one guard stayed behind to comfort the poor clerk and deal with the mess she had made. ‘Great day one, Chun.’
