Arriving in Vilfenheim

The harbour was busy even now, flooded in the crimson light of the sunset reflected off the calm ocean. Chun waved goodbye to the captain, who acknowledged her with a tap to his hat, and jumped right into the busy streets. The people were working, but Chun picked up on a tension that gripped them all. Normally the harbour was filled with people yelling at their stands trying to sell fish or trinkets, musicians, dangers, acrobats and all sorts of different folks. It was a melting pot of all people present in the city and the mood at the harbour generally reflected the mood of the whole city. A quiet but busy harbour with many expressionless faces and fearful glances over shoulders indicated the city was in rough shape but still holding on.

She asked for directions and reached the adventurers guild rather quickly. The inside of the large stone building was bleak. Only four people sat at the tables, and all were separated. The clerk barely looked up at Chun Xi as she approached and greeted her with a disinterested, “Yes?”. Such a formless greeting was unusual for the renowned Swordmaster, but she had experienced it before. She pushed out her chest and raised her chin, “I am Chun Xi, number eight Swordmaster, and I am here to deal with the Naga issue myself.”. The clerk raised her head, revealing a rather cute round face framed by long blonde hair, “Oh, it’s a pleasure Miss Xi. I’m sure the Guildmaster will want a word with you. Please sit down wherever you want, I will inform him about your arrival.”.

‘That’s more like it.’, Chun Xi thought, “Thank you dear, I’ll wait.”. She sat down at an empty table and watched the clerk disappear up a staircase behind the counter. A minute later she returned, carrying a large mug of ale with both hands. She put it down in front of Chun Xi with a smile, “The Guildmaster is thrilled at your arrival, Miss. Please enjoy this ale on the house, he will be with you shortly.”.
