Transitions
It was a lot of paperwork. Elizabeth reflected on it dully. She'd been through two husbands now, and now had a Master.
She'd moved out the following day, bringing only clothes. Broadus was a strict owner, defining when she could eat, drink, sleep. Surprisingly, he allowed her children to move in as well, although there were strict instructions for the kids as well. Broadus even seemed pleased when the children, even Tanya, started to refer to him as 'Father.' They kept their business behind double locked doors (and well soundproofed to boot), and only when those doors locked did Elizabeth cease to be 'Mother' and become 'slave.'
It was the worst of times in some ways, but it was the best of times in others, Elizabeth thought tiredly. Truly Dickensian.
