Where Do Things Go From Here?

Mansion Tour Part 3

Yuri led the party up the stairs to the third level. “This floor was supposed to be bedrooms,” said Yuri as he looked around the level upon approach, “but it looks like this might be a bit of an extension to the second floor.” He pointed to the rooms at the end of the hall on both sides, “seeing as I am seeing two theatre rooms.”

“You have stages for plays and the like,” said Inoshana with a bit of surprise, “that could prove beneficial in the future.

“Not those kinds of theatres,” Yuri apologetically, “I mean, they can be converted to serve that purpose, but I’m talking about screenings for cinemas and television shows, stuff like that. And before anyone says anything, I know I’ll have to explain, but I’ll do that later when we aren’t all basically getting our bearings. The rooms to the side of them are some more game rooms and a few storage rooms.”

“Can we at least see one of the theatres,” inquired Thelsia, “we can round back to things later.”

“I suppose,” said Yuri, he turned sharply to the right and headed to the theatre room, “my house back home only had one of these,” he said as he led the party towards the theatre room, “and it was where the gym was.”

The party entered a set of double doors about a minute later; the other side of the doors was fascinating the group; dozens upon dozens of chairs were lined up in need groupings for most of the room, several pathways between all of the seats were more than wide enough for most of the group to navigate, and almost the entire wall on the side of the room facing the doors was dominated by a massive white screen; there was also a small space under screen that allowed for a stage bigger than any of the women had ever seen used.

“The projector is in a special room behind the wall we are closest to,” said Yuri as he entered the room and stepped aside to let the rest of the party in. “It also has a series of controls to make the seating more comfortable for the viewers; what you are seeing now is just the default I like to keep the room set to; I can effectively control what are the best seats in the house. There are a series of speakers, a device for projecting sound, cleverly integrated into most of the wall to project a much more effective sense of surrounding sound for the audience; that way, you can hear almost everything and feel a bit more immersed in the material presented in the theatre. And no, you are not allowed to take a closer look at anything to do with the theatre setup; I don’t want my perfectly arranged system messed with just yet. Now, how about we continue the tour, and I can expose you to my world’s most common concept of theatre later.”

“That seems reasonable,” said Thelsia as she turned to head back out the door. A few minutes later, the group was all out the door and headed back to the stairs.

As they ascended the stairs, Yuri said, “Keep in mind this house’s layout is a bit different when compared to what I have in my memory, so there are chances I will miss a few things.” A moment later, they were on the third floor; Yuri swiveled his head around a few times to check some things before saying, “Okay, this appears to actually be one of the bedroom floors, each bedroom is actually equipped with its own washroom, so you don’t have to worry about the publicly accessible restrooms strategically placed around the building if you are having a personal emergency.” The floor itself looked like a blend of science fiction and fantasy that melded surprisingly well together. “From the look of things, there are a little over a dozen rooms on this floor; that’s twice as many as the version I was living in before arriving in this world. If you want, you can go through and take a look at the rooms, and if you like one of the rooms here, then you can have it. Just keep in mind that the master bedroom, my bedroom, was designed to be on a different floor. For security reasons and my own legitimate concerns, you’ll invade my personal space for one reason or another; I will not be telling you which floor my room is actually on.”

“Understandable,” said Inoshana as she headed to the neared room on the right; as soon she opened it, she saw the room had the aesthetic of a forest at night and said, “This is my room now! I am claiming this room for my personal use.” The room itself was actually quite spacious, practically on par with a diplomatic luxury room or room intended for other elite individuals, but was somehow nicer than any of those could hope to be by the presence of a personal washroom. Even elite rooms were generally devoid of them, and the ones that did have their own washrooms didn’t have a space even half as nice as what she was looking at. The rest of the party seemed to not be having trouble finding a good fit, except for Malza, who found a room a few doors down from Inoshana’s that reminded her of a Caprae meadow, which she also claimed for herself.

“Well,” said Yuri, “we’ll take a quick break here; he tapped a few hidden switches near the stairs, and it almost looked like a bench grew out of the wall next to the stairs as he took a seat on the bench. “We’ve been on our feet for hours; it’s always a good idea to give your feet a rest when that happens.”
