All through lunch she has her phone in her hands, half convinced he will message her to cancel, but also as she tries to decide if she should change the plans.
“Oi Flis, you look miles away” Chloe shouts to her as they sit in the cafeteria.
“She’s dreaming of boys” Chelsea teases her, but thankfully doesn’t say anything more.
She listens as the girls discuss their weekend plans, complaining when she tells them she is busy and can’t join them on their plans to head out Saturday afternoon. “Next week, I promise” she tells them to try to stop them asking what she might be up to this weekend instead.
The final lesson of the week seems to go on forever. Felicity checks her watch almost by the minute, watching as the second hand seems to stop moving. But finally, she watches as the minute hand approaches the quarter of an hour mark. The school bell almost makes her jump, and suddenly she knows this is it, that he is probably already parked on the road close by, waiting for her.
Felicity rushes out as fast as she can, heading to her locker to get her overnight bag, wondering if she should head straight out, or wait until most of her friends have left, or even if she should pop to the bathroom to put on some makeup, something they often do on a Friday if they are going anywhere after school.
