Take a closer look

Intrigued by this curious spectacle, Arthur exited his house and crossed the road, stopping in front of the young girl. "Abbey?" he called out, softly "It's Mr. Rudge from across the road, can you hear me?" silence and a blank yet joyful stare was all he got in response. He circled the trampoline, looking for any sort of form of stage trickery but there was none he could find; no glass box, no hidden wire, all he had was a little girl hovering upside down in mid air without any logical explanation as to why!

The whole situation was now starting to unnerve Arthur and he decided to do what he always did in these sorts of situations; find someone else to pass it on to! "D-don't go away, Abbey, I-I'll get your Mother!" and he raced inside the Smolt House, leaving Abbey all on her own again. He found Wendy Smolt, Abbey's Mother, in the Kitchen, but whatever had befallen Daughter had also befallen Mother, as Wendy was standing in front of the fridge, the phone clutched in her right hand, pressed against her ear and her eyes fixed on her watch, but she was completely and utterly motionless, her mouth was even wide open but whatever she'd been saying was frozen on her tongue.

Now on the verge of having a panic attack, Arthur staggered back onto the street and stood in front of Abbey, desperately scanning around, wondering what to do. Suddenly, Abbey snapped back into motion, returning to her correct orientation. She smiled at the sudden appearance of an audience to her aerobatics "Hi, Mr. Rudge!" she squealed "Have you come to watch me do my trampolining? I'm training so I can become a really famous Trampoline Artist!"

"Tha-that's great." Arthur grinned awkwardly "I-if you'll excuse me, Abbey, I must be getting home, there's something I need to look into..." As he dashed back across the road, Abbey simply shrugged and went back to trampolining.
