Richard v Brock

Baton Pass is BROKEN

As you stand across the battle arena from Brock, you can tell that he seems confident. Which is fine. You would rather your enemies underestimate you. It made victory that much easier and sweeter.

You see Brock send out his first Pokémon, “Go Ryperior!”

Smiling, you send out your lead Pokémon, “Go, Smeargle!”

As Brock sees your Smeargle, he sees a look of confusion on his face. Confusion which is repeated by the announcer. “What is that. Is that a Smeargle?!” You can hear the announcer laugh. “I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those?”

Brock doesn’t look like he is laughing, wasting no time to give his Pokémon a command. “Stealth Rock!”

But Smeargle is faster, and as you command it to use “Spore!”, The Ryperior is put to sleep before it can get the move off. Wasting no time, you give your next commands “Ingrain and Baton Pass!”

Baton Pass was one of those notorious moves. Many had heard of it, but few could pull it off. Unlike most Pokémon Moves, it wasn’t as simple as the Pokémon learning a new move and telling them to use it. The Trainer had to get the switch just right, switching the two Pokémon in a very precise manner. If you got the timing wrong, or released the new Pokémon in the wrong spot, the maneuver would fail. Because of this, Baton Pass was a maneuver which required practice, timing, and a level head from the trainer.

But you have been pulling this maneuver off since you were 20.

“Go, Bellossom! Quiver Dance!” Seeing the look on Brocks’s face as he starts to realize what is going on is almost as satisfying as getting your dick sucked. Almost…

Ok, it would depend on who is doing the sucking.

Knowing that he can’t just let you set up on his Ryperior, Brock swaps to a different Pokémon, “Coalossal”, which allows your Bellossom to get in one more Quiver Dance.

Brock commands his Coalossal to use “FLARE BLITZ!” and you see the giant pile of flaming rock charge towards your Grass Pokémon.

But before the attack lands you use “Baton Pass” and send out Vaporeon.

Seeing that your bulky water type managed to shrug off the attack you command it to use “Acid Armor!” With your next command of “Surf” you watch as your enhanced Vaporeon quickly sends a huge wave of water crashing into the Rock Fire Pokémon.

1-0

As expected, Brock sends out his Alola Golem next. The Golem is electric and Vaporeon is Water. But when Brock commands it to use “Wild Charge” you simply Baton Pass back to Bellossom, who is able to tank the hit thanks to a combination of Resistance and the passed Acid Armor.

One command of “Giga Drain” and what little damage that was done is healed, while also putting the Golem on its last leg. Not wanting to risk the Golem exploding, you command Bellossom to use another Giga Drain, finishing off the Electric Rock Pokémon.

2-0

Brock responds by sending out Aerodactyl and tells it to use “Wing Attack!”

A move which you counter by using Baton Pass to switch to “Drifblim!” while quickly commanding it to use “Minimize!”

The Aerodactlye starts chasing your Drifblim around the battle arena but is unable to catch it. You aren’t sure who is more frustrated, Brock or the Aerodactyle. You don't keep Drifblim out for long though, and after getting a few more Minimizes in you Baton Pass to “Espeon!”

Before Brock can consider a response, you command Espeon to use “STORED POWER!” and smile at what comes next.

The shockwave that your Espeon releases has such **** that it doesn’t just defeat the Aerodactyle, it knocks the beast backwards past Brock and out of the ring.

3-0

You have a good idea of what Brock’s final Pokémon will be and sure enough he does send out his Tyranitar.

You both know it is going to come down to this. Either his Tyranitar defeats your Espeon or you are going to sweep his entire team. You both shout out your commands to your Pokémon

“Crunch!”

“Dazzling Gleam!”

As the monstrosity charges towards your Espeon glows with such brightness that you have to shield your eyes. Over the loudspeaker you can hear the announcer seems to be having the same problem. “I can’t see what is going on folks! But I’ve never seen anything like this!”

When the light fades enough for you to see again, you slowly open your eyes to look at the results of the battle.

You can’t help but smile as you see your Espeon, still glowing with a threatening light, standing ontop of the head of the **** Tyranitar. You look across the battlefield to Brock who seems stunned into silence. Which you find understandable. It has probably been a while since anyone swept him this badly in a battle he was actually trying to win. But after a few moments he recalls the Tyranitar, and says “I concede, you win.”

As you smile you hear the announcer crying out the results. “I can hardly believe it folks! A complete sweep of an Expert Level Challenge! I don’t think I have ever seen such a match folks! I can’t remember the last time something like this even happened?!”

As the announcer continues babbling on, you start walking towards Brock, Espeon moving to walk beside you when you pass her. When you reach Brock he holds out his hand which you take, the two of you giving each other overly aggressive handshakes.

“Good Match.”

“Yeah, same to you.” Honestly, you had found the whole match rather boring. It was almost like work. At least when you fought other trainers, they could at least surprise you to keep things interesting. Still, there was no reason to be rude. So, you go through the motions of accepting the badge, smiling for the camera, and head towards the Victors Lounge and wait for the after party.

A part of you wished Melody was still here. It had been a years since the both of you had been to one of these and it was always fun to mess with her. Nothing to be done about it now though. Maybe you can distract yourself with one of the other trainers who won today. If you remember correctly there were three other girls. You are sure you can find SOMEWAY to entertain yourself.

Author's Notes: I have had not just Richard planed out for a while, but I have had THIS battle planned out for a WHILE. I wasn't 100% sure what Pokémon Richard would use, and I considered having him be a weather abuser instead of having a Baton Pass Team. But I wanted Melody's Ex-Boyfriend to be dangerous.

I hope I was able to convey that.

Also, Did you know Vaporeon!
