Enemy Patrol

Valerie heard strange voices and some static nearby. Thanks to years of training, she immediately woke up and looked in the direction of the sound.

She saw three armed soldiers, likely a scout patrol. One of them was poking at her backpack, while another was looking through a pile of clothes. Her clothes. They hadn't seen her lying on the rock yet, and she quickly dropped down on the other side to avoid being noticed.

Once hidden, she felt her stomach tie itself in knots. She wanted to kick herself for being this careless. She had just handed the enemy all her clothes and equipment. How on earth was she supposed to complete the mission, naked and hundreds of miles deep in enemy territory?

Valerie heard the soldiers move. She didn't have too much time to think. She could try to hide and hope to stay unnoticed, or she could try to make a run for it.
