A river

As she walked East in the heat, Valerie came upon a stream of water. The water was cool and fresh, and she looked down at her clothes. They were dirty, drenched with sweat, sticking to her skin. She looked at her watch, which showed plenty of time left. She decided to take a swim - she needed it.

She found a spot along the bank where she put down her backpack, before taking off her t-shirt and cargo pants. "Be back in a bit", she said to Iris, before turning her earpiece off and carefully storing it in her backpack. She thought about keeping her sports bra and shorts on, but decided against it. There was nobody around, and she didn't want to wait for them to dry when she got out of the water.

She stripped completely (except for her wristwatch, which was waterproof), putting her clothes in a neat pile before entering the water. The cool water flowed around her as she dived in, a welcome feeling on her sweaty skin. She floated contentedly, happy to let her muscles relax and recover from the exertion earlier.

Once Valerie had swam to her heart's content, she emerged from the water. She had seen a large, smooth rock near the shore - perfect for a little lie down as she waited for the air to dry her hair and body. As she rested upon it, the exertions of the day finally caught up to her.

"Just a little nap", she thought, as she drifted off to sleep.
