Run

Panic took hold of Valerie as she realized just how much of a danger she was in. She decided to put distance between herself and the patrol. She began to move silently towards the trees, away from the exposed river bank.

She had almost reached the treeline when she heard one of the soldiers shout something in a foreign language. She looked back, and noticed they were beginning to move in her direction.

She took off inside the forest, running as fast as her bare feet would allow.
