I open the door and the biology teacher, Mr Crupp, is as sarcastic as always. “Nice of you to join us. Did you have gum on the bottom of your shoe or did you need to go to the bathroom?” He says, in a tone that implies no matter what I say, my answer will be wrong. “Sorry, Ms White wanted to talk to me.” He rolls his eyes and I sit down, opening the textbook on my desk. A new popup appears as I touch the book.

This popup raises more questions about my ability. Which books count as me being able to learn their content? Will I be able to even learn the content of this book, or is it a skillbook as seen in so many RPGs? Whatever the case, there’s only one way to find out. I gain nothing from saying no, and the possibilities that stem from saying yes are plenty and beneficial. I click the yes button and the book disappears. Advanced knowledge of biology is now embedded in my brain, the same way a route taken thousands of times over is.

Oh fuck yes. Immediately, I know of what I want to do with this skill. Despite not having a micro penis at 5.5 inches, it also could be a lot bigger, and there’s no way I’m passing up the chance to make it that way. And that’s also not to mention my boobs, which are fairly small, an A cup, despite starting hormones a year ago.

For now, I continue to use observe on other students. I have to risk angering any member of the abyss I find, in order to level the skill. I spend the rest of the class regenerating mana. The lecture is only vaguely interesting at this point, given that I know the entire textbook’s content. I have better things to do damnit!

Eventually, the bell rings for break. Immediately, I head for the bathroom. My mana has regenerated sufficiently for the task ahead of me. I lock myself in a stall, pull down my pants and use the spell. The effects are slight, but noticeable. A slight increase in length and girth. My cock is now roughly 5.8 inches long. Not a monster by any stretch of the imagination, but hopefully soon enough it will be.

I relieve myself in the grubby toilet, being careful not to touch it at all. Seriously, some public toilets are disgusting. Women's toilets are generally better than men's, but both are pretty dirty. I zip up, flush, wash my hands and walk out. My mind blanks on what to do now. I blink and shake my head slightly to get my brain back into gear, then start looking for a place to sit down and eat. I pick somewhere that I have a view of lots of people to use my observe skill on. I grab my lunch out of my inventory and start training my skill.

A few minutes into levelling the skill, I spot a gorgeous woman about my age. Long blonde hair frames her pretty face and reaches all the way down to her ass, tight pink jeans and big pair of tits contained in a low-cut top that’s either light pink or white, it’s difficult to tell. Her shapely body is slightly top heavy and looks perfect in the clothes she’s chosen. She’s wearing a necklace made of little pearls that make me think of what it would be like to give her a different kind of pearl necklace.

Apprentice of Shadow? Is she some kind of shadow elementalist? Her level is at the very top of what maybe could be possible for mundane people, if they were some kind of a world class athlete. I’m not really sure on that, I’m more guessing that part, since I have no real data points for it.

It’s a likely possibility that she’s a magic user too. What else could her title mean? I’m not really sure, but considering that Gaia has a rule against mixing the magic and mundane, I’m not about to go up to a random girl and ask if she has magic powers. I file that information away for another time. Maybe I can ask Olivia about her.

Eventually, I finish my lunch and the bell for the next period sounds. I stand up and start walking, not all that keen on going to this particular class but knowing that it’s necessary. Art isn’t very much my forte, I’m much better in creativity when it comes to writing than anything visual.

Still, I try to make the most of it. I walk in and the teacher, Ms Briggs, glances at me to confirm who I am, then goes back to organising the papers on her desk. She’s a good teacher, very entertaining, which helps a lot in this subject. Observe yields nothing of note. Sitting down, Ms Briggs begins the lesson, instructing us to make a small sculpture using clay.

I idly start my sculpture, while I let my mind wander. I keep using observe on any students who I haven’t already, of which there aren’t that many in this class. My sculpture takes shape as a slightly humanoid, wonky figure. My artistic skills are as shitty as ever, but it’s not like I can do much else at the moment.

Craft: Create an item. Item result varies with intent and materials used. Item quality scales with skill lvl. Varying MP.

Well a new skill is always welcome. I won’t be able to do much with it now, especially given the low level of it. Might come in handy though, if I ever want to make myself a weapon. I use the skill on the unshapely piece of clay that I’ve been sculpting for way too long, hoping to get something vaguely more human resembling. It only costs me 5MP and you can actually tell that it’s supposed to be a person now. At least it’s not wonky anymore, it’s just a blank figure of a person that looks mostly okay.

The class is uneventful for the most part after that point. I test my new skill a couple more times and get various different, very simple results with it. It’s a very rudimentary skill at the moment, and sadly I don’t manage to get level 2 in it. The bell rings and I get to my next class.

The rest of the day is relatively standard, magic Gamer powers aside. No more level ups on my skills, yet at least. I do manage to find something else interesting though.

The observe result from using the skill on a particularly attractive girl I spot around campus. Her clothes are a simple white sweater and ripped jeans. It’s not her clothes or her (mostly hidden) body that draws me to her though. It’s her face. She looks always ready to smile, like she’s a cheerful person. She moves with a spring in her step, her eyes seem to sparkle with a carefree joy. Her blonde hair is tied back in a simple ponytail. If I had to pinpoint the one thing that draws me to her, her face looks like it would light up the room with a smile.

Mia is walking with one other person, also a girl, who looks fairly unremarkable by comparison, both in terms of appearance and from what I can tell from observe.

I take in all of this information rapidly, starting to get panicked when she starts to look around. I look away quickly and fade into the passing crowd. Mysteries for another time, when I’m a little stronger than I am now.

Eventually, the last bell rings. I get on the bus home, though I don’t actually feel like going home. There’s a walking trail a bit outside of town, maybe I can use it to test the create ID skill.

I check my phone. It’s currently 2:30PM. I’ll definitely be able to clear the main quest, and I should be able to do the optional objectives too. I need all the EXP I can get, so I can get stronger. For what? I’m not entirely sure, but I know two things: From what Olivia said, the abyss is pretty dangerous, especially here. I need to be able to stay alive. And also, I want to be able to do cool magic stuff and see the numbers on my character sheet go higher. For both of those things, I need to get stronger. Therefore, training.
