Chapter 13 by Urhr93
Time to start her first quest!
Into the woods
The next morning, Sae and Samantha walked into the forest.
Iriel choose to remain and use her healing skills to help the villagers out, whereas old Belus apparently strained his back and couldn't get up from bed.
As an active adventurer, Samantha was the best choice to accompany Sae in her first hunting trip.
She would follow along, giving advices on how to navigate through the woods but not planning to help during fights, not unless the situation was too dire for Sae to handle by herself.
But how could anything be a problem for Sae? She may be just a LV 3 with no real combat experience, but her agility was rated as a big S and so her speed and reaction and everything related would be comparable to... about level 60?
When talking about stat rates and giving them a numerical equivalent, a D would roughly equal an 1x of their level.
C would be a 2x and B a 5x, whereas A would be a 10x and finally S a 20x of one's own level.
It was a very rough estimate and not to be taken as an absolute, but generally speaking it could be rated as such and so Sae's current agility rating could be compared to a LV 60 with a D in the same stat.
However this forest wasn't considered a danger place and goblins may be considered troublesome more for their numbers than for their levels... Samantha was pretty sure the wanna-be-gallant-thief won't have any problem, not with her illusion magic backing her up.
Still, it should be good to start getting some experience before meeting the green vermins and so they would purposefully go out of their way to seek hostile beasts for Sae to practice with...
Horned rabbits, molerats, two boars and even a wolf.
In the beginning she felt hesitant about using her Moonsing sword to injure and even kill living beings... but maybe due to Anubis influence during her body remoulding, eventually she felt less and less about another being's ****.
To be precise, she felt as if taking life would be something sacred.
It wasn't something good, but also not bad. It was simply a part of the natural cycle of life, and she was simply returning the lives she took to Anubis embrace.
It wasn't something to **** or revel into, but a solemn act.
To respect the lives she took she'd make the best use of what they left behind, and in those animal's cases it meant to store their bodies into her ring so she could later bring them back to the village to feast upon. Their flesh would feed the villagers, their skin would be made into clothes and their bones will be made into tools.
Nothing would or should be wasted.
By the time they spotted their first goblin Sae had level up to 5, and had fought enough to not mind stabbing another living being.
Well, maybe it was one thing to hunt animals and another to hunt humanoids... but she had to do what she had to do.
There were three green small humanoids not too far from her.
They were half her height, were dressed in shoddy cloths and weilded rusted blades... she readied her Moonsing, shapeshifted into an ordinary blade, and sprinted forward.
She was ready to send them to Anubis... or at least she thought so.
She was fast, faster than anything those goblins had ever meet... but eventually she, too, was too green.
Maybe not in skin colour, but her lack of experience showed in her **** to ultimately strike at child-sized humanoids and her hesitance gave them the opening they needed to duck out the way, rolling away from her blades as they called for they mothers... very literally so.
Albeit broken, those humanoids could speak in common language and the suddeness of her attack gave them the scare of their life... but just because she missed the first time, it didn't mean she'd miss the second too and so as she turned to finish the goblin off the only thing he could do was to scream in "M-mercy!!!"
Is there any mercy for him?
