And we enter the chamber
The chamber of slumber
Jasmine opens the door and a cool breeze whisks onto our bloody skin. In front of us is a deep flight of stone stairs, with a guard rail. We descend deeper and the lights get dimmer. Candles dot crevices of the walls and I look down. A man-made river flows through a sewer into a stone archway.
We reach the bottom. The rivers sound echoes in the stairway. To the left of the river is a red door with “Entrance to Enchantment” in Roman Latin written in golden lettering. Jasmine takes a key and unlocks the door. Warmth gushes out at the three of us. Inside I see a coffin, a table for feeding like the one upstairs. Jasmine walks towards a couch, gold and saffron.
“Come. You two settle down. I’m going to get myself cleaned up.” Jasmine says.
“But isn’t that river sewer water?” I reply.
Jasmine smiles. “You have a keen eye but no, that is water from the local river. While I clean up, you can get to know each other before we feed.”
