You fire two more barrels and then drop the useless pistols. Two have fallen to your shots, but more and more follow. You, drawing dagger and cutlass, fall upon them. One, trying to climb the railing, you kick into the churn. Two more fall to your cuts, and another to a quick stab. A **** Mariner has tied another attacker in **** melee. You save him by beheading the pirate from behind.

More and more members of the Demeter’s crew fall in line behind you. They wield pistols and harpoons, and your flashing steel cuts through those mad enough to continue their attack. The pirate leader, cornered far away from his own ship, decides to test you with a fevered charge. You parry him with practised ease and he fails to block your counterattack. He does not die well, hacking up red foam from a pierced lung.

The remaining attackers turn to flee and are shot in the back for their attempt. You have won the day.
