Let’s read the next letter

“I would like to know more about what Auri wrote.” I say. “These people have been here after countess Lomalet left, right? So maybe, the disease thing started when they were around.”

Amelia looks at the other letters, trying to figure out which one comes next, and starts reading again.

Alright, it is getting late and Leena and Lorenzo have already gone to bed, so I have time to write my thoughts down again.

So, Leena and I have been taking care of the food and the house the last couple of days. I already thought this mansion was big when I first saw it, but now that I am cleaning it, if feels huge. One of the first places Lorenzo made us clean was the bathroom. My goddess. That was not a tub but an outright indoor pond. Huge enough for multiple people to bathe in. So, after that one was clean, Leena and I took a bath. Lorenzo helped us fill it up with water, because that’s one of the elements he can manipulate. I felt so clean after. I hope Lorenzo noticed.

After that, we’ve been giving the dining room and the kitchen an extra scrub. Then we discovered the wine cellar. There were some pretty old bottles in there. We took a few and celebrated with Lorenzo. It was amazing.

Then we cleaned up the hallways and the foyer, and also the living room. I swear it took us a whole week. I really hope future cleaning will be much easier. Fortunately, Lorenzo rewarded us by getting us new clothes. He took us to the city again and brought us to a fancy boutique. The clothes there were all more beautiful than anything I had worn in my life. I had first expected Lorenzo to choose our clothes for us, but no, he let us decide. Leena took the usual style she was accustomed with, just newer and prettier. As for me, I decided to go for something a bit more daring. In the past, I never dared wear something like that. I feared it would draw attention of men I didn’t want. But this time, there actually is a guy whose attention I do want to draw. I want Lorenzo to think of me like that.

The next day I saw Lorenzo head into the garden. I wanted to spend some time with him, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. Leena told me not to bother with him and help her clean the rest of the mansion. We didn’t bother cleaning the library. Lorenzo said he had already been in there and checked some of the books. They were all trash according to him, so that room is not important. There was also some door with a lock on it. Well, that’s another room we don’t need to clean. And then we got to this ballroom. So big and spacious. To think a room so big is meant entirely for dancing.

We finished cleaning the ballroom about an hour before dinner. That is when I noticed Lorenzo again. I asked him where he went and he said he had been in his secret laboratory. I asked him why on earth he would need a laboratory. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a rock. He said it was sandstone. Then he covered it with both his hands and started casting a spell. I knew he was concentrating very hard, because he had his eyes closed and frowned a lot. When his spell was complete, he opened his hands and showed me the rock had turned into a crystal. Then he used his magic again and changed the shape of the crystal so it looked like a heart. He called it quartz and gave it to me as a gift. Oh, Lorenzo can be so romantic. He’s so cute.

So, Lorenzo is a crystal mage. No wonder he is so rich. If he can make these at will, there must be a lot of jewelers whom he can go to and sell them. Lorenzo then also told me that there are many different types of quartzes. There is a purple one called amethyst and a yellow one called citrine, and he could make them all, depending on what color he wants them to be. Lorenzo is truly amazing.

The next couple of days, I have been visiting the ballroom often. It is so big and since Leena and Lorenzo don’t often come here, it feels like I have my own private ballroom now. Sometimes, I stand in the middle of the room and start dancing. I pretend music is playing and there are a lot of people around me, praising me for my elegance. I feel like I am a princess now. Yes, this is my favorite room to be. It is also here that I have decided to start writing down my thoughts. I must say, it helped me quite a bit. I feel I can now better contextualize what has happened. Like, I knew I wanted Lorenzo to pay more attention to me, but I didn’t exactly figure out why. But now I know. It’s because I have fallen in love with him. He is my hero. My knight in shining armor. A prince who took me away from a life of filth and nothingness and now I get to live in beautiful house. And really, all I have to do is cook and clean for him. Kinda like a wife. But … there is one other thing a real wife does for her man. I just need to find a way for Lorenzo to see me that way.

“Well, well, well. Looks like Auri wanted to get Lorenzo’s attention.” I muse.

Kiara smiles at me and asks, “Don’t we all want someone to notice us?”

“Yeah,” Amelia says as she takes the letter and places it with the previous one. “I hope Lorenzo actually does. Unlike some people I know.”

Amelia Then she takes the next letter and starts reading it as well.

I can’t believe this. I get that Leena just wants to protect me but wow. If there was one time I didn’t want to get protected … Anyways, let me start from the beginning.

So, Leena has noticed I’ve been putting the moves on Lorenzo whenever I have the chance. She confronted me about it and told me I had to stop. Kiara takes the letter Amelia just put aside and says, “I’ll continue reading.”
