The Cat's Head Is Poking Out!
Wednesday!
I wake up back in my Domain. My head is pounding and I slowly sit up. I try to think about what happened last night. I can remember battling the Lich. I remember becoming the King of Annihilation and slaying the Lich. I remember going to the party and drinking. I sigh and sit back. I see I'm on the couch in my Cabin. I reach up and put my palm against my forehead. I cast Healing Hands curious to see if it'll help my headache. It doesn't, and I sigh. I look around and see an empty room. The first rays of dawn shine through the window. I slowly get up and walk outside. Once outside I see Verona and Gaia. Verona's attacking plants that Gaia grows to surround her. They stop when they see me.
"Good morning Eric, sorry if we woke you." Gaia says.
"You didn't I didn't know you were out here until now. I was just getting some fresh air." I say and she nods.
"Does your head hurt?" She asks and I nod. She brings her hand up to my head and a glowing green light emanates from her hand. my headache vanishes and I sigh with relief.
"Thanks." I say and she smiles.
"No problem. But maybe hold back on the drinks next time." She replies.
"Eric, is it true you used a new sword yesterday?" Verona asks and I nod. Gaia turns to her before she continues. "Could I see it? You don't have to activate it, but I heard you took it out as a pole." Verona continues and I nod again. I take the Sword of Annihilation out and Verona gasps.
"What do you see Verona? I can't sense anything from it." Gaia asks.
"Neither can I!" Verona says excitedly.
"Why are you excited then?" I ask confused.
"Because everything has mana in it. The mana comes from the ground. It goes into every plant on the surface. So all trees, leaves, and even rocks have mana. When humans process them they lose some, but they always keep a little. Most Lyna can't sense or see it, not even Sensors can see mana in concrete. But I can. I can see it in iron, steel, cars, and even the tops of skyscrapers. This is the first object I've seen since becoming a Goddess that doesn't have any mana." Verona says and Gaia tilts her head.
"Wait, if it doesn't have any mana, how is it a weapon?" Gaia asks.
"It's designed to be seen as an object with no mana. Observe even said that no Gods or Sensors could detect it." I explain and she nods.
"Eric, feel free to say no. But could you show me its sword form?" Verona asks and Gaia hit her on her head.
"Verona! You heard about the backlash it has!" Gaia says and I smile.
"Sure, but there's something I need your help with in exchange." I say and Verona's eye sparkles.
"DEAL!" She shouts out. Her eye glows so bright I have to turn away. "Sorry, I was just sure you'd say no. So what do you need?" She asks while her eye stops sparkling.
"I want your help in training with it. It was difficult using the Sword since it boosts my strength and speed. I need to adjust to it and need someone who can keep up to spar with." I say and she nods furiously. I activate my Sword of Annihilation and her eye sparkles again as Gaia sighs. I start counting the seconds that go by. Verona looks at the Sword and then at my veins. She takes out her book and writes something down.
"Eric, could you lower your blade? And then keep it still?" She asks and I nod. I hold my blade down and she walks over to it. She takes her finger and quickly presses it on my blade. I note that I didn't get a damage notification. Probably because I didn't attack.
"Verona!" Gaia shouts as Verona looks at her finger. I look and step back when I see it. There's no blood despite her clearly getting cut deep enough. Instead, her fingers glowing where my blade touched. I can see a cut deep enough to reach her bone. Instead of blood though, there's just the glow. "Are you okay?" Gaia asks upon seeing her finger. Verona nods and closes her eyes. A moment later her finger's back to normal.
"What happened?" I ask and Verona smiles.
"Your Sword destroyed the mana holding my body together. Remember, we Gods and Goddesses get our bodies remade when we ascend. Our bodies change and become something comprised of pure mana. Your Sword destroyed the mana keeping my finger together. But I can heal it by using my mana to replace it. That said, it does consume quite a bit of it." She says and Gaia sighs.
"This is why you shouldn't use your body to test stuff!" Gaia says and Verona waves her off.
"Verona, do you want to spar now?" I ask and she turns to me, her eye sparkling again.
"No! Eric, you need to stop before you get hurt!" Gaia says and I smile.
"I'll be fine. I've been counting and I still have plenty of time. I'll stop after five minutes though. That's about the same time I used it against the Lich yesterday." I say and Gaia sighs. Verona steps back and asks Gaia to start the fight. She does so reluctantly and I immediately rush Verona. Thanks to the Annihilation Energy in my veins, I move much faster than she expected. I swing my blade at her and she jumps back. She sends a few spears of raging wind at me. I cast Annihilation Trust and destroy them. I rush forward and swing at her again. She creates a wall of wind and I cut through it with ease. She jumps up and I get an idea. I start Multicasting Annihilating Ray making sure I miss. Six balls appear in the air next to me and shoot at Verona. They miss by a foot and I smile. I was testing them, to see how they work against a moving opponent in the air. Verona lands and rushes me. I block her sword with mine and she presses against me and I take out my wings. I beat them and take off into the air. Verona follows after me and I stop. I raise my sword above my head. I cast Annihilation Energy and make it envelop my blade. I try to recreate Innu's Gigantomakias ability. I make the blade grow using the Energy and bring it down. Verona easily dodges it, since it took me longer than I thought to gather the Energy. I return the blade to normal and charge her. She blocks my blade with her sword, but can't stop my ****. I push her back and we crash into the ground. She binds my arms to the ground with her wind and jumps. I see her lunging at me and raising my feet. I kick her back while using Annihilation Energy to break free. I get up as I reach five minutes. "That's enough!" I shout to her while closing my eyes. I make my Sword of Annihilation take its pole form. I open my eyes to see Verona looking at me.
