Genie Wishing

Genie. The djinn. Whatever name is applied to them, numerous stories have been told about them and their powers. But there is a truth behind the myth and it shall be revealed here.

Genies are elemental spirits from a plane of higher existence, and their appearance on any other plan of reality is a result of a punishment placed upon them. For whatever crime they commit, for whatever power judges them, genie are sealed within a container and then sent to a lesser world, to serve at the whims of that world's inhabitants for whatever sin they committed.

The first to claim the container and call upon then genie (by touch, by rubbing, by breaking the seal, or by name) becomes the genie's master and is entitled to three wishes. The genie come from a plane so advanced, that they can easily manipulate the fabric of most realities with ease, but they can only do it at the command of their master. And - whether a limitation of their power or a stipulation of their sentence - there are five rules that a genie cannot break, no matter what.

• The master may not alter the number of wishes offered by the genie; 3 wishes, no more, no less
• Wishes cannot affect any genie whatsoever
• The genie cannot effect the boundary of life and ****; they may not kill a living, sapient being nor resurrect one. They cannot grant immortality and while they may make a being appear younger or older, their age will not actually change
• Genies cannot return to their home reality, nor can they grant access or knowledge of that reality to their master or anyone else. In addition, a genie's sentence cannot be reduced or altered
• Upon the granting of the third wish, the genie and their container will vanish, flung into the aether to the next world and master

Beyond that, besides being bound to these rules, genie are beings of sapience and intelligence. They have their own personalities, memories, thoughts, and opinions. They can vary from being sweet and demure, willing to give their master exactly what they desire, to capricious and hostile, attempting to twist their master's words into something cruel. Or anything and anywhere between or beyond.

The appearance of genie is a rare and spectacular occasion, granting the master power beyond the pale in their reality, three wishes capable of altering everything. And a new genie is about to be found very, very shortly...
