A bloody mess

The melee does not last long. With a few cries of pain and a loud crash everything suddenly goes quiet. You wait a few more seconds before opening your eyes, nervous about what might be waiting for you.

When you do open them, what you see shocks you. Jon is sprawled out on the ground in a pool of his own blood. The deep slash across his neck is an obvious sign that it's too late to save him. You don't see either of your other companions in the immediate area and get concerned. Did they just run off and abandon you? You spin all the way around and still don't see them.

You are about to give up when you hear a tree branch snap somewhere down the canyon. You run over to the slope that you climbed up yesterday and the sight horrifies you. Nell is laying in the stream with Adi's sword sticking out of his chest, and Adi is near him, impaled through the gut on a tree branch. He locks eyes with you, knowing you might be his only chance to get out of this predicament.

"I'll find a way down to you!" you yell down to him. He smiles back but can't voice any reply. You scan the slope as quickly as you can, looking for a way down that doesn't involve sliding uncontrollably. You find a large, sturdy tree a few paces over, perfect for stepping along its roots as you begin your way down. The first few steps are easy but the foliage only gets thicker and thicker the closer you get, hindering your progress. About halfway down the slope you get to a section that is so narrow, when you squeeze through your blanket gets caught in some twigs and tears in several places. You stop for a moment and see the tatters of your last piece of makeshift clothing hanging uselessly.

Shaking your head, you keep going down. Now's not the time to worry about your modesty - your companions are down there and you need to save them! When you finally pop out along the river, you are a little ways away from them and must sprint over to see if they're still alive.
