Neo is following after them

“I think this curse may be better than we think,” Ruby said absentmindedly, as she and the other girls made it to their dorm room.

She began reaching into her bag for her scroll, which was their key to get in.

“Oh?” Blake asked, still happy to hold a mind-altering curse but curious enough about it to inquire.

“Pyrrha wanted us to stay and was worried about us and then – a second later – she let us go, completely unconcerned. Then, with Velvet and Coco, they were angry and upset with us but then seemed pretty happy and agreeable.”

“There wasn’t anything weird about Coco and Velvet’s behaviour,” Yang said, bluntly.

“But they were crying before. They changed their minds, like us.”

“Are you saying that we are spreading our curse to other people, Ruby?” Blake asked, concerned. What would that mean about the safety of the student body?

“No,” Ruby answered Blake, with her expression not matching her words, “I don’t think that at all.”

“Oh! It’s asking someone a question. They answer differently,” Yang said, snapping her fingers together.

“That’s not concerning,” Weiss opined.

“We really HAVE to be careless and ask anyone anything,” Blake stated.

“Let’s get in doors first to discuss this,” Ruby said, opening the door and inviting her team in.

She looked both ways before closing the door behind her, careful to see whether anyone was around. She didn’t think they were spreading their curse, of course, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Sure enough, from around a corner, a short woman appeared in a crystalline fanfare, having blended herself into the background using her semblance.

Little Neo was quick to dip back around the corner and text to her partner what she heard. This was big. Far bigger than infiltrating a normal huntsman academy and duping run-of-the-mill huntresses. They could change people’s thoughts? That was mad. Madder still was that Roman seemed to know what was happening and she waited for a texted update.

After a few tense moments, he texted her back:

• he said that they would always say the opposite opinion and believe it as their own;
• when they ask someone for their opinion, they’ll give the opposite answer and believe it was their own;
• lastly, to Neo’s relieve, he said that, since she can’t talk and can’t answer any questions, she was immune.

Phew, Neo thought, that’s good to know. Having my mind messed with sounds horrible.

“How do you know this?” Neo texted, “What have you been doing? >¦3 ”

“Spoilers...”

Roman. What a lovable prick.

Still, if there really was no risk on her part, she didn’t really have to worry them. In fact, it seems like this will be a fun day.
