Lost and found and lost

Walking around with just one boot was just awkward, going up and down with every step, so Kumiko decided to go to the lost and found first. Unfortunately for her, it was right next to the cafeteria and it was almost lunchtime.

"I'll be having lunch, so I'll see you in a few." Kitty didn't even wait for Kumiko's response and flew right into the kitchen.

"Sure, just leave me here naked! You're the worlds greatest sidekick." Groaned Kumiko.
There was some good news and bad news for our magical girl. The good news: save for a single teacher behind the desk, there wasn't a single soul to be seen. The bad news: it was Mr. Shimada. He was one of the kindest souls on the planet, but was also as blind as he was deaf. This was gonna take awhile.

"Hello, Sir!"

"Ah, Good afternoon, miss. Anything I can help with?"

"Yes, I'm looking for my brown boot. Do you have it here by any chance?"

"Sure, let me look." He reached for the box, and kept looking.

And looking.

And looking.

Meanwhile, lunch break was upon her, and the students walked to the cafeteria. Kumiko was quite a sight to behold, stormed by hordes of fans who kept asking for a autograph, asked an endless barge of questions, or worse still, a picture. She rejected the last one, but that didn't stop some of them to take one anyway. This has been the most bizarre moment of her life, since she knew several of these people as Kishi Kumiko. Meeting close friends who were now fangirling about her, the class clown who was suddenly really polite, and the popular kids who don't even know who Kumiko was were now talking to her like she was their closest friend. So might've enjoyed this, weren't it for her lack of attire. As the crowd slowly died down, she asked Mr. Shimada,

"Have you found it yet?"

"I'm terribly sorry, miss. I just can't find your clown boot."

"No no, I said BROWN BOOT."

"Oh, brown boot. Was right on top. Here you go." He immediately handed her the boot.

Kumiko was miffed about the huge waste of time, but she couldn't be mad at the guy. He reminded her too much of her grandpa, so she could only respond with, "Thank you sir."

Immediately, Kitty flew back with a stuffed tummy. "Hmm, why do you have Moth Queen's boot back? Shouldn't you be focusing on the hat?"

"First of all, good to have you back, it was horrible here. Second, why would it matter if I get the boot or hat back first. I need them all, right?"

"I admit, I may not have been entirely clear on this. I meant YOUR boots, not the queen's. Given the fact that your powers still work, you haven't lost the boots too long ago. They're probably still at home."

Kumiko facepalmed at her mistake, but quickly recovered. "I'm SURE I brought them with me. What if someone stole them?"

"Then you have a huge problem. If someone stole them, they might know who you are. Any idea who it might be?"

"Chimera said a fangirl ran off with my hat. Maybe she stole them, or might know who does. Just spitballing here."

"We better head off to the library then. Any idea how you'll deal with the fangirl?"
