Chapter 11 by youdontknowme87 youdontknowme87

Later that Day...

Camping in the Woods

Robert looks up at the sky, and the gathering storm clouds tell him one thing, it is going to rain soon. Looking towards Brandy he tells her. “We should find some place to camp for the night soon.”

Brandy doesn’t respond as she continues to walk along in silence. Looks like she is still mad at him…

Well, Robert will just have to lay on the charm.

[Robert Skill: 2d6+4(mind)+3(skill) (Edge via Feature: Attractive) vs Brandy: 2d6+3(mind)+1(skill)-3(Naïve). Results 2d6(edge)+7 vs 2d6+1=17 vs 8

“Now Brandy, what’s the matter?”

She finally decides to respond, “You’re a criminal Robert.”

That is what she is upset about? “Oh, that is what you are upset about?” Robert chuckles to make light of the situation. “You are going to let the words of some Bounty Hunter you just met bother you? A Bounty Hunter I might add who did attack you?”

Robert sees a look of uncertainty go across Brandy’s face, now unsure of what to think. “He said you have a bounty Robert.”

“Oh, is that is what is bothering you?” Robert waves his hand dismissively. “Part of the nature of being an adventurer, a hero of the people and all that, you tend to make enemies.” Robert gives Brandy a large smile, knowing that his words are having an effect on the Naïve young woman. “Think nothing of it, probably just some rich fat cat who is out to get me.”

Brandy considers what Robert says and while she no longer seems upset, she still has a questioning look on her face. “Ok, but why would a ‘rich fat cat’, be out to get you?”

“Oh, who knows, I would have to know who put the price on my head in the first place.” Which is TRUE, but there is no need to go into details. “But that really isn’t any of our concern.” No concern of Brandy's anyway. Why should he tell Brandy about the trail of broken hearts, ruined marriages, and bastard children he has left in his wake?

Robert changes the subject by pointing up towards the gathering storm clouds. “We should be more concerned about finding someplace to rest for the night.”

Brandy either doesn’t realize that Robert changed the subject, or doesn’t care enough to press the issue. “Yes, we should look for an Inn before it starts to rain.”

“Or we will just have to camp out in the woods.” Brandy gets a look on her face at that comment. Obviously not liking the idea. “Oh, come now Brandy, this IS supposed to be an adventure! Isn’t it? What kind of adventure is it if you don’t sleep outside a few times?”

Brandy doesn’t seem convinced. “Still, I would rather sleep inside, if possible.”

“Well, maybe we will find someplace close?” Robert doubted it though

```
Do Brandy and Robert find an Inn/etc before the rain starts?
Yes/No (Even) [1,4] No
```

To Brandy’s dismay, and Robert’s delight, they were not able to find an Inn, or a barn, or some other kind of real shelter before it started to rain. Why was Robert glad about this?

Because with the both of them getting soaked to the bone by the rain, the only way to get dry would be to take off their clothes. Creating what Robert was hoping would be an opportune situation.

When the first raindrops started to fall, Robert barely managed to contain his smile. “We need to find shelter soon.”

“Well, I’m open to suggestions?”

“I know of a place not too far from here.” But far enough.

Brandy looks up at the clouds, a troubled look on her face. “Lead the way, Robert.”

***

Robert wasn’t lying when he told Brandy that he knew a place to find shelter. What he didn’t tell her what the shelter was. When she found out she wasn’t pleased.

“This is your idea of shelter?” she had an upset look on her face that Robert couldn’t help but find cute.

“What? It is dry and has space.”

“It is a CAVE!”

As per Brandy's observation, the two of them were currently standing in front of the mouth of a cave. “What were you expecting?”

“I don’t know, an Inn, an abandoned house, something?!” Brandy is obviously annoyed, but she doesn’t know her way around the woods. But Robert has spent years in the forest, and he came here for a very specific reason.

“Oh don’t be like that Brandy. The cave is deep enough that we can get out of the rain and let our cloths dry. Besides,” Robert gives her an amused smile. “There is a surprise in the back.”

Trying to hide her curiosity…

[Brandy 2d6+3(mind)+1(skill)-1(honesty); 8, vs Robert 2d6+4(mind)+3(skill); 10]

But failing, Brandy asks “So, what is this surprise?”

“Well, you will have to go in back to find out.”

Semi-reluctantly, Brandy follows Robert into dark but dry cave.

What is in the Cave?
