Chapter 7 by Storier Storier

Do you give Nerd Christina a shot?

Restore her confidence first

While it'd be a real adventure to exploring this new timeline, you really do like Christina for who she is, sans the addiction to window shopping. It's nice to know she'd still like you even if she wasn't so sure about herself, but it's not like you want to bring her down a peg. You're already a foot taller than her as is.

"Hey, you convinced me. I'd take a bookstore date with you any day, so long as we walk out with at least one book," you tell Christina. "I'll pick you up when you're done with work. How's that sound?"

Christina smiles and ducks behind her mocha. "It sounds like I'm dating the right guy."

There's a smile you have to protect. You make up your mind and put pencil to paper once more, adding to the rule from before.

Old Rule: Petite women dislike shopping for clothes. They're confident in their looks without relying on perfect wardrobe selection.

Again the world shifts.

Christina sits fully upright and smiles, seeming much more in command of the table than she was just previously. Her glasses vanish, and her hair comes loose from its ponytail. However, it tumbles free to her shoulders rather than its original full length.

Her outfit also shifts. Christina's baggy sweater and jeans from high school shrink in toward her body, tightening in place. The jeans stretch down into a pair of black yoga pants, and the orange sweater reduces into a simple sleeveless top that hints at the shape of her slight chest. Christina's old sneakers, meanwhile, turn into a pair of blindingly white tennis shoes.

She certainly looks a lot more like the Christina you knew before you started messing with the Rulebook that governs all reality. But what else did you just change?

"We're still going to the bookstore today, right?" you ask, almost afraid of the answer.

Christina gives you a look she usually reserves for when you talk too long about Star Wars or the problems of the modern gaming industry. "We can go wherever you like babe," she says with a patient smile. "As long as we're not in there too long - the reservations I made won't wait if we show up late."

Reservations? A restaurant, maybe? Sounds like this version of Christina has a plan.

But so long as you're changing things up, why not go an extra mile? You like her more athletic look - maybe you should lean into that? Or maybe you should just be thankful for what you have - Christina back to normal, but without torturously long trips to the mall.

Trust Christina's plan? Or lean into this whole 'changing Christina' thing?
