Kase's Departure Part 2

Traveling in a carriage for so long is boring. Even for Syvis, who seemed to want to be indifferent at first, little by little, she loosened up, and we spent most of the time talking about trivial things but also some essential things.

She doesn't know most of the members of our party, so I told her what I know about them since it will help us to know at least that much when we enter combat. It's quite apparent that there will be quite a few complications, especially for Syvis. They almost certainly won't try to help her if she is in trouble. It will be my duty to watch her back, which is good since it gives me a chance to win favor with her and attract her more.

"The trip was peaceful," I said, "I thought the Dark Dragons would try to ambush us or something."

"There is not much point in trying something like this now that we are not too far from [Riledo]. They know that both guilds have enough members who could replace injured adventurers. The smartest thing to do would be to wait until we are far away, which would complicate and delay a replacement a lot." Syvis reply.

"Then we will have a peaceful journey, at least until we are close to the ruins."

"Another problem would be if the three guilds in [Riledo] deal too much damage to each other, we won't be in trouble when facing Stormbirds, Syvis continued, "They will be rested and uninjured, plus they have Maiya."

"That makes sense. Dark Dragons seemed to want to get ahead to avoid an early fight, and Midnight Dawn stayed behind, trying to avoid conflict. And as for Maiya, I'll take care of her."

"You shouldn't be overconfident. Even though you're both S-ranked, your class is at a disadvantage to hers in head-to-head combat."

"I'm glad you care about me, but I'll be fine. I've never lost a fight. Besides, I can count on you if things get ugly, right!?" I said.

Fucking bastard! Just seeing his face makes my day bitter. Without thinking about it, I grabbed my dagger and, in one jump, reached where he was, putting my knife on his neck. But was stopped by the other idiot, Dante.

"Aren't you getting ahead of the party?" Dante said with a smile.

"Always so inopportune," I reply, "It reminded me of that night when you came at the worst time. If it wasn't for you that night Stella..."

Dante didn't let me finish, kicking me, but he got the worst out of it because my dagger hurt him.

His sister Stella was foolish enough to believe that I would actually join Midnight Dawn. I made her believe that if she slept with me, I would join her guild, but Dante interrupted us at the worst moment. Since then, Dante has been one more of my many enemies.

What followed was fun. A minor altercation in which it was funny to see Darx's face when he saw how I protected Syvis from him. Unfortunately, the guards came to interrupt.

"YOU CAN'T DO THAT HERE! IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT, GET OUT OF THE VILLAGE RIGHT NOW!"

"Looks like you guys got lucky," I said mockingly.

"I think it's the other way around," Dante replied.

"Let's get out of here," I said to Syvis.

She didn't answer me and just turned around and started walking away from the place. I walk behind her. During all this time, Syvis was pensive, seeming affected by what happened. It really makes me jealous to see how much anything Darx-related affects Syvis. Why can't she be like that with me?

Then while I too was in my thoughts, Syvis stopped abruptly.

"Syvis?" I asked.

"Ahshala? W-Why is she here?" Syvis muttered.

Confused, I looked in the direction where she was looking, and it was a carriage that was passing through the streets. Without saying anything, Syvis started to run after that carriage. The only thing I could do was run after her without knowing what was happening. The carriage turned in a corner and disappeared from our sight. When we got to that corner, we saw in the distance the carriage entered through a gate of a large mansion. Syvis once again ran until she reached the gate that was locked.

"Syvis, wait! What's going on?"

"Why is she here?" She mumbled once more to herself, ignoring me.

Some guards approached the gate from the inside, "Hey, you guys can't be here. Get out of here!"

Looking at Syvis, she seemed pretty mad.

"We're leaving now! Syvis, come with me." I grabbed her arm and pulled her out of sight of the guards.

"If they don't let me in, I'll make them." She said.

"You need to calm down. I will help you enter but not by ****. I know this place."

Syvis looked at me suspiciously and asked, "How do you know this place? What kind of place is this? What would they do to Ahshala?"

"I know this place because Agnes once sent me here."

"Agnes... sent you!? For what?"

"You know well that Oblivion has contacts in the underworld. The village chief of this place is one of them. Oblivion looks away, causing him no trouble, and in return, he keeps us informed of any suspicious movement in the underworld."

"And what kind of place is this? Why would Ahshala be here?"

"First of all, who is Ahshala? I still don't understand what's going on."

"Yes, leave it to me. There is another secret entrance through which we can enter without much trouble. Just humor me with everything I say while we are there, and we'll get your friend out of there. If things go sour, I'll be the first to kill anyone who stops us from freeing Ahshala."

"Okay, I'm counting on you."

"Leonard is quite paranoid and only trusts me and Agnes, so pretend you are my woman when we go inside. That way, we will avoid suspicions and unnecessary questions."

"I'm not going to do that!" Syvis responded angrily.

"Believe me, it will be the easiest way to solve this without causing a stir. You can leave everything else to me, and I promise we'll get out of there with your friend without any issues."

Syvis didn't answer but started to walk away, looking annoyed. I guess that's a yes.

We went around the walls surrounding the mansion until we reached what seemed to be another standard wall, but in reality, it is enchanted to appear so when it is actually a secret entrance. I was shown this entry the first time I came.

You don't have to be very smart to realize that this Ahshala is here for Dark Elf trafficking. I understood that this was outside of what Oblivion allowed. However, I can take advantage of this opportunity. I know what kind of place this is, and maybe with a bit of luck, I'll have a good time.

Entering through this entrance, we continue through an underground corridor until we reach where two adventurers are guarding the entrance. They got into combat position when they saw that someone was approaching, but when they saw that it was me, they lowered their weapons and greeted us with a smile.

"Mr. Kase! No one told us you were coming."

"It was something sudden," I reply, "May I come in? I'd like to talk with Leonard."

"Of course! Come through here. I will notify Mr. Leonard of your presence immediately."

We continue advancing through the corridor until we enter a part of the mansion through which it is impossible to access if you enter from the front gate. Leonard is a nobleman in charge of this town and uses the front of this mansion as a facade for that purpose and in the back, hidden from the public eye, is his real business.

The back of the mansion is an even more luxurious area than the front.

I had heard a rumor that Leonard was starting to recruit beautiful girls to serve VIP clients, which seems to be true. Continuing walking to our left, there is a large area with women dancing on a stage and what I assume are wealthy men enjoying the view while being pleased by more women. **** and **** abound. Walking further, there are private rooms where it is not difficult to imagine what is happening. And still, further back, there is a door that, when opened, is where Leonard will be.

"In a carriage?" Leonard asked, confused.
