Chapter 24
by RedMonika
Leave the warlord's compound?
Time to head out.
With a "thud" of on object hitting dirt Naerwyn drops the sigil into the dark hold. Next she lowers herself in. Though tall for a woman, with no body fat, Naerwyn barely fits. She has to wiggle her hips nicely to squeeze them in, though her ample cleavage gives her the hardest time, since it is the widest part of her body. The show is quite pleasing to the Akkadian, who realizes if he was in his masculine form he would never fit.
A faint "next" echoes up through the hole signaling it is the Akkadian's turn.
Quickly and efficiently the assassin douses the torch and returns it to its holder. Next he enters the hole, and though shorter than the thief has the same problem she had, since the Akkadian's chest is about the same size as his friend.
Dropping a few feet to the bottom of the tunnel he replaces the plate above him and crawls down a very tight earthen tunnel in the total dark. Normally, this would terrify most people, but it is nothing to the an experience thief or assassin.
After a several dozen feet he hears Naerwyn's whisper. "Getting closer, almost there, Minaja." A few moments more the assassin can make out the faint glow of moonlight signaling the tunnel will soon end. The cool night air is a pleasant change as the thief helps the Akkadian out of the tunnel. Looking around the assassin stands on the side of a hill in an old round down abandon cemetery that was once used for the poor. It is more weeds and dead trees now; the superstitious would find it a terrifying place under the evening's moon light. Putting a false grave plate over the whole Naerwyn covers it with some dirt. Surveying the graves surround them she calmly whispers a brief prayer. "May Mitra watch over your souls and that your loved ones which walk this earth know joy in this life."
Taking the Akkadian gently by the hand Naerwyn whispers. "Minaja, we need to head west out of the cemetery, over the fence, across a street to a barn where we can reorientate ourselves. We need to be quiet, though the town guard rarely patrols around here."
Naerwyn makes her way silently weaving her way through the thickets and the dilapidated grave markets. Though certainly not up to his previous body's standard, the assassin is able to keep up with the stealthy thief since most of this work is mental.
Getting to a fence, the curvy thief easily climbs over it. The Akkadian takes three tries, not use to how short he is legs and arms are now and that his center of gravity is far lower. The street is deserted and is easily crossed. Getting to the barn Naerwyn slides its door open just enough for the two women to slip through. Closing the door behind them, Naerwyn guides the assassin by the hand through the lower floor which contains hay, straw, clover and other fodder for animals. Assassin is impressed, the thief's night vision is better than his. Reaching a small ladder they climb to the hayloft, at its back is a door that leads to a small room. Once in the room with the door closed Naerwyn lights a small lantern.
Turning to the Akkadian, Naerwyn smiles. "We should be safe here while we change. I have some bread and honey-mead if you are hunger. I know a tavern we can safely stay at for the evening, but I do have some questions if don't mind while you rest."
Does the Akkadian answer Naerwyn's questions?
