The vet

Joshua knew exactly where to take the dog first because mom and dad had only agreed to let him have one if he learned how to take care of it, so first stop had to be the vet even through he really wanted to head home and play with it, the puppy didn't want to walk at first but a gentle pull on the leash soon got it moving, the trip didn't take long or at least it didn't seem to as Joshua was lost in thought the whole way, i didn't even check if it was a boy or girl he wondered, "if its a boy i will call him Charley and Lucy if its a girl" Joshua said walking through the door to the vets office.

Lara was worried but optimistic about getting home, sooner or later this boy will take off the leash and let me outside then it will be a quick trip home, get mom's attention and back to normal she hoped, "what a cute girl" the vet said after picking her up and taking a quick look "does she have a name yet", "yes her name is Lucy" Joshua quickly replied after hearing the vet call her a girl, once she was on the table the vet got to work checking her health, taking blood, even implanting a microchip which hurt more than Lara expected it to even letting out a yelp, soon through she was placed on the floor in front of a bowl of water, she was very thirsty but looking at it she wondered how many other dogs had drunk from the same bowl, ultimately through her thrust won out over her disgust and she began lapping it up.

Instead of walking home the boy picked up Lara and got on a bus which alarmingly took almost thirty minutes to arrive at Joshua's stop, finding my way home from here is going to take some time she thought, a few minutes walk from the bus stop Joshua pulled her through a gate and into a rather large house, as soon as they were inside she heard the boy greet his family and as they did she learned his name, once Joshua had introduced Lucy to the boys parents he also showed her around the house including the back garden which while surrounded by a fence had only a simple gate although it would require her to be a bit bigger for her to open, that's one possible escape route even if it will take awhile, my best bet remains to slip away when he takes me on a walk which could be as early as today Lara hoped.

Sadly it took longer than a day for her first chance to escape.
