Liara kneels down to comfort Shepard

“Shepard?” Liara said softly as she rushed to Shepard’s side. “I’m… I’m here…”

Shepard looked up and looked confused for a moment and then sad again. “Liara? W-what are you… what are you doing here?”

“Doing here?” Liara said, trying to think of an excuse, knowing Brooks was listening. “I’m here on Broker business. You know my work… it’s uh… very busy.”

Shepard glared. “So I heard. What do you want?”

Liara felt her heart drop. Shepard was so angry, so heartbroken. “Shepard,” Liara said.

Liara felt tears. She so badly wanted to hug her and tell her everything that happened. That it wasn’t her. That her feelings for Shepard were still as raw as they were when they first met on Thessia. That her love for her could never end. But she couldn’t. If she did that… Shepard’s reputation… everything she built over the past 10-15 years and more… would be gone. Shepard stood to her feet. “I have a mission to get back to,” she said. “Goodbye.”

“Shepard, wait!” Liara cried as Shepard walked away.

Shepard didn’t look back and walked back to the apartments. Liara had to figure out a new plan… she just hoped that Brooks would be more forgiving with time…
