The Violet Vision cast her glance downward, unable to look her nemesis directly in the eye, holding herself as she admitted the truth that had been plaguing her for months. “...I’m tired. I’m tired of doing this, day after day, week after week, month after month…I've tried for so long to bring people like you down for good...and every time I think I've got you, you get away. Because the system lets you get away.”

Alfonso rested her cheek on her fist, smiling wider. "Well surely our game hasn’t become boring. What’s REALLY bothering you?”

Starslip’s eyes narrowed, gripping her sleeves tightly. “At first, I felt like it was me. Like I was failing everyone by not bringing you in. But the more it went on, the more things got worse and worse, I realized the real problem: Everyone else was failing me. I was the one who wanted you locked up the most, and no one with the power to make it happen seemed to care. I’m just…tired of the system. Of trying to help it.”
