Chapter 3 by PervertedDM PervertedDM

Edmond kept his head down, closely following the trail of goblin tracks while hidden by the shadows cast by the surrounding hills and trees. Head down, for fear that his blonde hair or light skin might give away his position to any goblins that might be near enough to see, he dared only a few glances up at the tree line and the tops of the hills.

Nothing. No goblins in sight, but they had certainly been through this area. Edmond couldn't help but wonder if perhaps he had been giving the goblins too much credit. He shook the thought from his head. It was that kind of thinking that got you killed in the forest. Underestimating a bear or a wolf was a fast way to be mauled to death.

And so it was with great care that Edmond continued following the trail until he found it split into two paths.

One path hugged the creak as it curved around a hill. There would be no shade to aid him on that path, which would no doubt make his efforts to move unseen more difficult if there were any goblins watching that route.

The other curved around the other way, passing between two hills, steep walls on either side. The pass was dark from shadow, and seemed like the perfect choke point for the goblins to set up some sort of defense or ambush.
