Chapter 110

Now What?
Setting Up The Guild.
"I'm going to head into the cabin for a bit. There's something I forgot that I need to do." I say turning to Asami and Luna.
"What is it?" Luna asks.
"I need to decide if the guild will work for, with or without the government." I pull out the book and Asami hits her palm with her fist hearing this.
"Oh yeah! I forgot too, but Sugano taught me about this stuff. She showed me that same book with the big white building. It explained the benefits of joining. But why do you need to decide? Sugano said that we wouldn't have to worry about this until after the Katorg case got wrapped up."
"Kallen said that too, but apparently the government need me to decide. Any thoughts on what we should do?" I ask and she giggles. Se leads me inside and Luna follows. We sit on the couch and she takes the book.
"So, I read in it that if you work with the government they'll pay for you guilds HQ. They'll also provide a monthly budget that you can spend however you wish. The better you preform and more you accomplish the greater the budget. However you'll be unable to refuse there requests. We wouldn't be able to decline any work they give or chose not to assist them whenever they ask. If we decide to align with them then they'll protect us. They'll keep our guild and identities a secret from the other guilds if we choose. They'll also do what they can should anything happen. Like if a dark guild, that's the term given to any illegal guilds likewise they call the guilds who obey the laws light guilds. Anyway if one of them attacks us and is to strong for us to handle they'll ask other guilds for assistance and pay them for it themselves. However, if we align with them they won't pay for out HQ. If we decide to work solo they won't offer us jobs. We wouldn't have to give a monthly report either. Oh sorry, I forgot that part, a monthly report is something you'll have to do. You only need to do it if we work for or align with the government. It's just what it sounds like, you just write down what we do. If we cleared any natural Dungeons or fought with any guilds, light or dark. And any updates, like if we bought a building for our HQ or expanded on it. Also if we added or removed any guild members. All in all, I think we should align with them. It's free work, and not all of them are investigations. Some are finding or making items and/or weapons. They can also be exploring Ruins. Ruins can be discovered by Lyna, and are like Dungeons but differ greatly. They are gateways that can only be seen and interacted by Luna. Once you enter its like a maze. The government can ask you to explore it and bring back items of interest. Ruins will always contain monsters like Dungeons but are also full of traps. This makes them much more dangerous. However, they'll always contain artifacts. They are similar to the Dungeons in games I've seen in your memories. They can have chests, puzzles, hidden rooms and more. So, like I said a bit ago, I think we should align with the government." She starts to beam and Luna looks at her impressed. I pet her and thank her for her help.
"Good work Asami." I say continuing to pet her. She smiles and giggles. "So, how do we tell the government our choice?"
"By doing this." She turns to the last page in the book and shows me a magic circle. "This will activate with you mana circuits, or blood. It'll summon someone's familiar to give you the paper you need to fill out. It'll also give you a small stone that it'll come back to after a few hours and deliver another box. But this varies depending on what you choose." I nod and thank her before cutting my finger with one of my claws and placing it on the paper. The circle lights up and a cat jumps out. The cat has a small box on its back, wearing it like a backpack. The cat meows and the box falls off. I pick it up and groan when I open it. Before the girls can ask I pull out a bundle of papers.
"That looks like it'll take awhile. I'm going to start dinner. Good luck." Asami says taunting me at the end. She stands and disappears while Luna stands up.
"I'm going to train!" She says going out the door. I walk to the bedroom room and sit at the desk. The cat follows suit and jumps onto the desk. It lays down on the corner and I pull out a pen. I start filling out the paperwork. After I finish signing my last signature on it the cat meows. The papers float up and a light engulfs them. A grey rock appears and falls on my desk in its place. The cat meows again and disappears. I pick up and place the rock on the floor. I'm doing as the papers said by placing it on the floor with a few feet of space on all sides. After I set it down I walk back out into the main room. I see Asami and Luna sitting on the couch.
"Eric! Are you done?" Luna says standing up and running to me. She hugs me and I pet her.
"Yeah, what time is it?" I ask Asami, whose standing a few feet away.
"A little after seven. I finished dinner about thirty minutes ago and we were about to come tear you away from the papers. You've been in there for about two and a half hours. Luna pulls away and I apologize. We head back to the apartment and eat the mashed potatoes, corn and steaks Asami made. When Luna saw the steaks she grabbed Asamis hand and started shaking it while thanking her over and over again. Once we finished we go back to the Domain. I join their sparring practice and we continue it for an hour and a half. We wash up in the spring and go to bed. Before going to bed I did check, and the stone was still there.
