Continuum (End of Arc One)
Author's Note: Hi, everyone! I am updating this page (not the chapter contents) to include this note. I'm considering this Chapter to be the end of the first story arc. Lev has adjusted to the Affection Multiplier, and his life seems to be on the up-and-up. I originally intended to finish the story shortly after this arc ended, but I've decided to continue into a second arc that focuses on his newfound freedoms and growth. And, of course, more time with his favorite ladies. This arc will begin with him returning home on Friday evening to his family.
But all isn't as well as it seems.
Look out for new chapters soon!
---
The next day at work, you fuck Maria again. Twice, actually. Once when you just arrived at the office, and a second time after lunch. The beautiful Hispanic woman is ravenous for you, and you nearly end up entangled with her for a third time later in the afternoon. But she has a new job to do, after all, and gets called into a meeting.
All the while, you strengthen your new relationship with her, reinforcing your dominance and ability to direct her. Like a dried sponge on Arizona black top that just felt rain, she soaks it up as though her life depends on it. Knowing how lonely she was before, you might not be far off. The woman undoubtedly has a need for you in her life, but you don't mind. The app is only helping her to get where she is going, you know. Wherever that is. Despite knowing you're using your magical position to your advantage, you can't help but feel that you're helping her to fulfill her inner self. But maybe that is just a copout.
You leave work early, another quasi-workday completed, and head home. Nadia has dinner ready for you this time, and your family enjoys a casual evening together. Later that night, while the girls watch TV downstairs, Nadia drags you into your bedroom for a fervent session of lovemaking. You pass out in her arms, your heart brimming with joy at the thought of this being an everyday experience now.
The next day, you meet Dmitri at the Rice Room, prepared for your first day on your "other job." To your surprise, he spends most of the day walking you around different shops, stores, and warehouses, showing you where things are stored and introducing you to people. The next day is like that too. It isn't until Friday that he finally eases off of the "Welcome to the club" vibes and takes you on, what he calls, a real job.
It isn't much, though. You collect protection money from a few of the people you met previously in the week, then Dmitri shows you how to hand it off to the bookies. It's more money than you've ever seen at one time, but you do as you are told without comment. As you leave one of the drop points and settle back into Dmitri's old town car, he gives you a furtive look.
"Not bad for a first week, Lev." He slides the key into the ignition, and the worn car roars to life.
"Don't feel like I did much," you say with a shrug. You look out the window at a nearby warehouse, not unlike the one where you and Ana met the Hispanic man for the liquor purchase. You look away. That man is dead, now.
"Baby steps, Lev, baby steps. I introduced you to everyone you need to know. From now on, you'll collect the protection money and drop it off on Wednesdays. And, here." With a smirk, Dmitri pulls out a manila envelope and hands it to you. It's thick. "For your help, you get a cut. Take the money out."
You open the envelope and struggle to contain your surprise when you pull out a stack of bills nearly an inch thick. They are mostly small bills, but some fifties and hundreds are mixed in. "Dmitri, this seems like a lot."
He shrugs. "Being the nephew of the boss has perks, I guess. He told me to make sure you get a little bit extra."
"How much is this?" you ask, a warm feeling growing in your stomach. You would make this much money, each week? On top of your other job, with your new raise? That sense of progress wells within you again, and you can't help but grin at Dmitri.
"Don't get too excited, kid, you still have a lot more to earn, and it won't all be so easy. That there should be around thirty-three hundred. Don't spend it all in one place."
Despite his words, Dmitri seems happy to be sharing this with you. You're not quite sure if he is your boss, supervisor, or whatever else, but the old man has been kind and supportive towards you since you met him. You stuff the envelope into your front pocket, then hold an empty hand out to Dmitri. "Thank you, Dmitri. For everything you've done for me."
He takes your hand and gives it a firm shake, then a firmer (but still friendly) punch on the arm. The two of you talk about the best ways to collect protection money on your way back to the Rice Room, and you learn more about some of the personalities you'll be interacting with. Every bit helps, but you can't help but think that you're not going to have any trouble in your new role. The Affection Multiplier will see to that.
