Chapter 29

Well, now that the sisters are mad at each other, how do you respond?
Check in with everyone else
Spending this entire unexpected vacation with Amy was definitely going to be fun, but you couldn't let it really distract you from your main goal. This Affection Multiplier was clearly very powerful, and you doubted that it only limited your chances to have one girl. That would be completely wasted potential.
So, in the spirit of that line of thinking, you decided to text all of the other girls you had taken a liking to recently, just to sort of check on them.
Cody: Hey, Summer! Just checking in to make sure that you made it out safely!
Summer: Hey Cody! I did, my dad lived a few hours away so I could stay at his place.
Cody: Well, I'm glad you made it out safely
Summer: I'm glad you thought of me. How about you, where are you staying?
That was an interesting question. While you and Amy weren't exactly a secret, nobody had really known what all you have done, whether you two were actually together or just really good friends.
Cody: I'm staying with some family friends in the mountains, my parents are across the Atlantic right now.
Summer: Sounds fun! Well, I guess I'll see you whenever they let us back in school. I'm looking forward to our breakfasts together again.
Cody: I'll see you then too.
~~
Cody: Hey, Isabella, did you make it out of the area alright?
Isabella: I guess you could call it that. I have some time to collect my thoughts before I go back to my personal hell.
Cody: "Personal hell"?
Isabella: I'm just calling it that because I feel like administration has a vendetta against me right now.
Cody: If they haven't done anything yet, it's unlikely that they will though.
Isabella: They're all like 90 years old in that office. Moving quickly isn't exactly their strong suit, unless it's bingo night at the firehouse.
Cody: Well, I'm glad you're not stuck in the storm.
Isabella: Yeah, and I guess I don't have to deal with any of those annoying people. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to check in with me, it means a lot.
~~
Cody: How are you holding up, Heidi?
Heidi: Well, I made it out last night before traffic got bad, so that was a plus! Also, I get to stay with my awesome best friend for the week!
Cody: That sounds great!
Heidi: She goes to school all the way up in Virginia, so I never get to see her, but she invited me over when she heard the storm was headed straight for us, and I would never turn down an offer like that! What about you, where are you staying? I remember you saying your family was out of the country.
Cody: I'm staying with some family friends that were only a few hours away up in Tennessee. They're nice people and were willing to take me in for a little while.
Heidi: Well, from what Amy told me, her family lives up in Tennessee too. Maybe you two could have a secret little rendezvous one of these days!
Girl, if only you knew.
Cody: Anyways, it's nice to know you're doing well. I'll let you get back to having some time with your friend.
Heidi: Try not to get too detached while we're all gone.
Overall it seemed like everyone was doing well. Even Isabella, the pessimist, lightened up a little bit after a few short messages.
"Hey, where'd your woman go?" you heard Evelyn say in the doorway.
"Uh...I have no idea", you said, treading softly so as not to take any bait for sexual innuendos. "Probably went to her room or something".
"Damn, she's so boring sometimes", Evelyn said, not leaving the entrance. "I swear, I don't know what you see in her".
"Well, you are her sister, so you're kinda obligated to be annoyed with her. Likewise, I'm kinda obligated to not talk trash about her, so I'm going to just say 'I'm clearly seeing a different side than you do'", you responded, finding a balance between the two.
"Yeah, whatever you say," she responded, dismissing your remark. "I can see that you're a little busy with your phone though, so I'll leave you alone".
She then walked off. There was a weird dynamic between her and Amy, they were in a way the stereotypical sisters who got on each others' nerves, but both of them had an excellent sense of humor if they got the upper hand in a retorting match.
