What Does Sav'era Do?
She Decides to Play With Dominance
Sav'era gestured and a burning light appeared in the palm of her hand. Susan watched as it began to taper, growing long and thin. One end grew and began to form a long, flat circle which then started to hollow itself out. Susan had never seen magic like this before. Her eyes widened and she looked towards Sav'era.
"You can do things like this?"
"Only in certain situations," the demon replied. "Ah, of course. You do not know how we work. Humans and demons are different, princess. The way our powers work is different. If a human learns a spell, they can use that spell any time and it will always have the exact same effect. But it takes humans a very long time to learn a spell. Whereas, we demons are born knowing our spells but there is a catch to it. We can only use them when it's appropriate."
"I don't understand," Susan said. "What do you mean? Who decides such a thing?"
"No one. Everyone." Sav'era laughed. "It depends on what we can do. There are many different kinds of demons. of course, we succubus are quite famous in human lands for what I am sure are purely innocent reasons, but there are many more kinds than just we. There are warrior-demons, or bureaucratic demons. Imps, or devils or what have you. We're all connected. Mainly, what separates us is our role. As soon as we are born, it is obvious what sort of demon we will be. And as we grow, our powers reflect that nature. Magic comes naturally to us, flowing as easily as you would breath. But, the trade off for being so attuned to our own nature is that we cannot use those powers at times when it would not be appropriate for what we are."
She held the glowing light easily between her hands, grinning as Susan's eyes followed it.
"For example," She said. "I have a brother. He is no incubus, but rather a Vrash-Shi. A demonic knight. His power reigns over battle, slaughter and blood. During a fight, he can make himself stronger, faster. He can heal from almost any wound which does not kill him outright. Those are not powers I have, though we share parents. But in the bedroom, he would have no more power than a human. If he tried to invoke his natural traits, it would simply fail. You see? We demons have more natural ability than you humans. But a human can use their power any time, and for a demon, it must be the right time.
"I am a soldier, but I am nowhere near as powerful as a Vrash-Shi. I do have some traits which are useful. I am stronger and faster than most humans. But I cannot use most of my powers there. Instead, my magic flows from passion and desire. I use it in the bedroom, or where lust is strong. So you see, if I was fighting I would not be able to do this. If I had just met you in the street, I would not be able to do this. But because you have agreed to sleep with me, it means that my powers are now appropriate to the situation. Therefore, I can do this."
She gestured and the glow vanished. The shape remained and Susan saw that it was actually an iron chain linked to a collar. She swallowed, her face going pale.
"What are you going to do with that?"
