A Gift

Megumin began to bang her head against the table. She gave Yunyun an exasperated look. “So, you like this guy. But you don’t want to talk to him. You don’t want me to talk to him. You don’t want me to ask Luna or any of the waitresses what he’s like. What!?”

Yunyun sighed. “I just- I don’t know… It’s awkward!”

“At least let me find out what he’s like! C’moooooon, I’m trying to help you! I’m excited for you Yunyun!” “Megumin persisted. “Plus, if this is the future husband of the future head of the Crimson Demon clan then I’ve got a right to know.” She began to tease.

Yunyun turned bright red at the notion. And Megumin facepalmed, knowing she’d set herself back.

“Aaaaand…There!” Vanir mumbled to himself excitedly. Yunyun and Megumin were no slouches when it came to magic, so he had to be extra careful when sending the earrings to Yunyun. Even put an extra charm on so no one would notice she had them.

He knew it would come back to bite him that he didn’t explain the rules to her but he couldn’t risk it. Knowing Yunyun she’d do the right thing if she knew what the earrings could do.

I sighed as Megumin didn’t give in. Really I should be happier. I mean she’s taking an interest in me and she is trying to be nice. But it’s still awkward.

I mumbled to myself. “And of course, it’s normal for Megumin to poke, prod and objectify me.”

I was hesitant about asking Megumin about the earrings. After the manhandling I’d just gotten from her I didn’t want to say anything else that might send her into another frenzy.

“You’ve always got those on.” Was her toneless reply.

“Yunyun…” She sighed. “You normally wear those, why are you acting so weird about it?”

“I am not!” I nearly shouted back at her. “I know what I put on and I didn’t put these on!”

“Look, if you’re that opposed to me finding out anything about that guy for you then just say. Don’t start acting crazy Yunyun. C’mon, we may as well head out of town.” Megumin said as she stood up and walked past me, towards the door.

My stomach tied itself in knots and began to flip. “Y-you know, normally I get things a few days ahead, so we have time to spend in Axel still!” I quickly blurted at Megumin. I just needed some time. It was a bad lie since we are tight on time already. But I need to stay in Axel just a little longer, I have to figure out what’s going on.

Megumin groaned. “You mean to say you rushed us ahead of time! Honestly! Let me see that letter!” She stomped over to me and before I could react she grabbed the letter from the Crimson Demons.

She was going to see that we have to leave today.

“TWO DAYS!!” Megumin yelled. “You were going to have us leave two days early!”

“What?” I mumbled to myself, grabbing the letter back from Megumin. I scanned it and… What?

The date had changed… The last time I looked it said we needed to set out today, now it says two days from now.
