It seemed like a good idea at the time

It was with a small amount of hesitation that Xander put his fingers on the keyboard. He had an idea. An idea that on the surface wouldn't be that bad. There was no way that his idea could change the world in any major way. It might- might- change a few things here in Sunnydale but nothing too major. The way he was going to word this would make sure that there was at least a few changes that he wanted to see happen. And even with those changes it wasn't like things would be terrible for everyone involved. He was saving a life here. Lives if he wanted to split hairs as Amy currently being trapped in the body of a rat was no way to go thru life.

08-Catherine Madison never got into witch craft or attempted to take over her daughters body as a way to remain young. Instead Catherine got into gymnastics and working out. Catherine found keeping her body trim and fit was a way to hold onto her youth. She furthers that youthful drive by coaching the Cheerleaders of Sunnydale High.

The world changed as he watched on and indeed in the brave new world Catherine Madison was still alive. Instead of whatever had happened to her with that aborted spell she'd cast in the old world. Xander was surprised at his unintended changes. If Catherine never got into magic then Amy never got into magic. He'd planned for that and like he thought Amy wasn't a rat currently. Amy also wasn't very happy as her mom was still a Type- A pain in the ass controlling person and had Amy on an even harder training regime than she had been on in her last life, only this time it was more healthy as it followed fitness science or whatever they called it. It did bear results as Amy and the other cheerleaders were certainly more fit and flexible than they had been in the other timeline.

The main snag he hadn't planned on was the full fallout of Amy never getting into magic. Meaning he never had anyone to cast the Love spell during Junior year which meant that he never got Cordelia back after being dumped during the Valentine's day dance. Which had the knock on effect of making the Fluke never happen for some reason as this time around he and Willow didn't find any reason to get kissy in the lead up to Homecoming. And it's not like he could date Willow now that he was single as she still ended up dating Oz in this timeline. So he was back to being alone only this time without the benefits of having made out with either Cordy or Willow.

Well.... that... sucked?

Talk about your mixed blessings. Good in one hand and crap in the other. He was left wondering if this was a better outcome then it had been. For him. Yeah, it was great for the Madison girls. But what about him? He'd lost his relationship with Cordy. Which, granted, hadn't been all happy fun times but there had been enough happy fun times to make him miss the relationship and not just the groping and the kissing. However, he had to weigh that against the negating of the Fluke which seemingly made his standing in the Scooby gang better? Or at least Buffy and Willow didn't seem to have been avoiding him and excluding him from events as much these past two months.

There had to be a way to make up for wiping out his meager romantic history. He still remembered the full length and breadth of it but to everyone else he was one of the stand outs in the Cordelia Chase Cast Off collection. The one who got cut in the middle of the Valentine's dance for extra spite on Cordelia's part. It was nearly a year later and guys still gave him the tough break sympathy wince and nod. Plus he still had to put up with Harmony and the Cordette's tittering at him when he caught them looking. And he had to deal with Cordy all but treating him as if he didn't exist despite her still trying to be a peripheral part of the Scooby gang.

This would not do.

He didn't want to just inelegantly write an order that made someone fall in love with him. But on the other hand it didn't seem like he was getting anywhere on his own. So he needed to the thread the needle of an order that made women want to take a chance on him despite all his baggage or whatever. He could make himself the most popular guy and see what happened... or make himself the quarter back of the football team which would make him popular for a reason... although that would take away from Scooby time... but it could increase his chances of landing a cheerleader.... athletics of any sort would make him more popular... but any kind of team sport would eat into vampire slaying which he would not give up. So a sport that wasn't a sport.... and he couldn't suck at it, he had to be good at it from the start.

09- Before the start of his freshman year all of Xander's Master P.C. commands began to take effect.

Xander felt the phantom fire of a reality change pass over him and could now clearly remember that his body was indeed getting stronger and more flexible as far back as freshman year. And that was also when his dick had started growing to its now gargantuan size and shape. So he was set up for killing it at any sport he tried but what sport to try? Swim team was out he wasn't going to repeat that again. He'd had bad experiences with Baseball and Football. Just about the only thing he'd ever got any kind of compliment on- in this new world- was his skateboarding tricks by Catherine Madison, of all people, who thought he might have a future in gymnastics given the type of tricks he was pulling off during his attempting to be Tony Hawk phase. Which worked out a lot better this time around as he actually had the skills to do the tricks. And there was no way skateboarding would happen as a sport that made people play attention to him. But gymnastics? Sunnydale didn't have a gymnastics program. Cheerleading was kind of gymnastic, tho. Or at least it could be?

And he did kinda owe Amy for making her mom into even more of a bitch by being all uber Cheer coachie.

10- Catherine Madison saw potential in Xander's enhanced abilities and since Freshman year has been training him in gymanstics with the goal of turning the Sunnydale cheerleaders into a competitive cheerleading squad built around Xander's amazing gymnastic ability.

As reality rewrote itself Xander had to blink in surprise. "The fuck?"

He was fairly popular and he got a lot of attention from the girls in Cheerleading, a lot of 'little brother' type teasing and amazement at his ability but that was it. No one wanted to date him. Not exactly what he was hoping for. But the main reason for that distance between him and the girls seemed to be Catherine Madison straddling the line between being a stage mom to him and given the level of inappropriate touching at times she was also hot for his body. No wonder he was still dateless. No way any girl wanted to get between the psycho cheer coach and her seeming obsession.

Fucking hell.... well, at least Catherine wasn't driving Amy insane anymore.
