What is her decision?
Not exactly what you expected.
"I don't think I have much choice but to go with you" she says, "but I can't go with you right now" she quickly adds. You weren't really expecting her to drop everything and go with you at all, so her answer confuses you. Seeing the confusion on your face she explains some more.
"I have a commitment to this city as a powerful magic user is a pretty big deterrent to raids and attacks" she starts, "most of the leadership considers my presence here during the starting years of this city to be why it has grown into what is has become. I will need to make preparations before I leave. Namely discussing it with the city's leadership, and also offering them some forms of magical defense for after I'm gone. I've put a lot of effort into this city, and I don't want to just leave them empty handed. The discussion part will be quick, as from what I understand the leadership is confident they can defend themselves on their own now. The magical defenses part will take me a while to do for what I have in mind. Probably about a week or so all said and done. Once done I could teleport to your location through our communication device" she finishes.
"Oh...well I am actually surprised you want to come with us at all" you reply. "Are you sure you want to leave this city behind" you ask.
"I have more than one reason to go with you" she answers, and seeing your look of expecting her to explain she continues.
"Firstly you are a very powerful being, but you are inexperienced with magic and need guidance and protection. I feel as though I have a responsibility to both. Powerful magic users are more rare then the technology that existed during the time of Wendel, and as you've found out certain groups will want to capture and use you towards whatever their goals are. I love my city, I really do, but I have to recognize you have the potential to change more than just one city" she explains "Secondly I was ready to settle down and live out my life here, but when you arrived and with the similarities you have with Jason...I feel the call of adventure stirring inside of me again. In the beginning with Jason we had so much fun. I would be an idiot not to see I could feel that way again...with you and your group. Even if I don't feel that way again, just a chance of it would be worth it" she says staring past you at what you assume are memories surfacing.
"Nadine" you say getting her attention. "I am not Jason. You know that right" you ask concerned. Nadine looks shocked for a moment and quickly calms her expression.
"Yes, John, I know you are not Jason and I didn't mean to make it seem like I am chasing after a replacement for him. I do miss him dearly, but I know that he is gone now and I've made my peace with that. I admit I sometimes get lost in the past, but the future and present will be my main focus. Which brings me to my third reason, and that is that I'm just incredibly attracted to you, and I want to explore where that might go" she says blushing a little. This earned some knowing giggles from the group. Still you did worry about being an unhealthy Jason replacement, but you resolved to just be careful on that front.
"Well, that settles it then" you heard Annabel say "Welcome to the harem" she chuckled. "I know I know" she said before you could say anything "You wouldn't consider this a harem, it was just a joke" Annabel countered before you could speak. You rolled your eyes a bit and smiled at Annabel.
"Well, I think we have it settled for now at least. Let's get a move on and get out of dod...er...town" you tell the group. "I don't know how many of them are here already, but it would be a good assumption there will be more as the time passes." The group nods their heads and begins gathering their things. You notice Rene go over to the alcohol cabinet and start throwing its stock into a pack, and you raise and eyebrow at her.
"What" she asks innocently "It isn't like they can fire me" is all she offers before returning to finish her task. There wasn't much to pack up as no one had really unpacked, so it only took a few minutes for the group to get ready and dressed for travel. Nadine gave each of you a hug, said her goodbyes, and teleported away to her home you assume. Several minutes later you were outside with Copper and Bruce in tow.
"Now or never ladies" you say.
"Why would it be never "Jane asks.
"Erm...it's just a saying meaning now" you offer. The group looks confused at you, and admittedly you wonder if you misused the phrase, but you just shrug and look around the corner for the best path to take.
